I wasn't able to get last weeks list 100% completed before today because I unexpectedly had to assist some friends w/their move (my GF volunteered our services) yesterday & I worked this morning. I went ahead & made next weeks list:

Weld the 'new' inlet nipple to the blazer gas tank (up-sized from 1.25" to 2"OD)
Mock-up the fuel fill piping to the bed floor
Finish weld the shock c.member
Start the rear bumper bracket 'tweaks'

Very clean looking truck Tony. I never payed attention to the black area behind the grille. Were all the tutone trucks done that way?

Per the Chevrolet Truck Encyclopedia, all the '60-'66 Chevy trucks were done this way, including the single-tone and two-truck paint schemes. There may be some exceptions, but that is the way they were originally done.

Two obvious tale-tell signs of a repaint, are this area not having the black backdrop with the off-white accent ring or the firewall being any color besides the body color.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I rebuilt the receiver hitch. The one that was on it when I bought the truk was made of 2" square tubing (OD) and the hole was the same size as the hitch so it wouldn't work with "off the shelf" hitches.

Made a 3 gauge panel to replace the heater controls in the Camaro dash. I like to call it the rare "Heater Delete" option. :metal: Then shot a coat of rattle can primer on the dash and gauge panel just to lighten it up a bit. It needs soem filler but I plan to run the dash like this through the year and tear everything back down next winter for bondo and paint.

Also spent some time organizing all the under dash wiring with wire ties in preparation for hooking up gauges. It might look nightmarish but now I know what every wire is thanks to my trusty 1965 Shop Manual.

Some of the books and manuals I have are quite informative and not readily available, so they offer a lot of great details about these trucks.

Replaced a heater core in a customers Chevy Equinox. Job calls for 10hrs and the car only had 60k on the odo. I know it doesnt pertain to our trucks, but i thought you guys might be interested.
I did however get my front suspension out from under my truck tonight.

cant seem to be able to post the pics. i'll try again later

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

That's why I drive a 50 year old truck, the heater along with most everything else can be fixed or changed in minutes instead of days.

Spent 3 hours grinding and sanding rust/dirt off the the rear 1/3 of the frame. Tomorrow plan is to finish the rust removal with a wire brush , then paint it with POR-15.

On the GMC trucks. only the back area (behind the barbell) was blacked out, no trim color was done.

I am not sure Vernski, but the GMC guys have the answer. I do believe it was only on the Chevy trucks, as noted above, by jbgroby.

Thanks guys for the answer on the GMC grills. Hey today I bought a 63 Chev swb knee knocker from a guy that was hurtin for sure. $500 and the title was mine. It needs bed wood and I will have to replace the rockers maybe just the drivers side. I'm a GMC guy but I wasn't passin' this up bbw an all. It has an I6 in it and it runs good. I'll start on it when I get my GMC done, it needs paint and some body work.---Vernski:lol:

I did some work yesterday and today on my rear backhalf. I made my top tri link tabs and today I squared up my frame and rearend, set the pinion angle and built the top links. I ran into a small problem with where my links were headed so I had to bend them so they would hit the middle adjustment. But I'm glad I did because it turned out sweet. I had to pie cut it because I don't have a tube bender and didn't want to wait. My bungs are tacked in and its tacked in the front and the tabs are tacked aswell. Anyways here are some pics and I did a walk around and video'd it and I'll have that up later.

Should be about the same as or around about a 5'' drop on a shortbed.
