Re: Shrunken66Stroker's build thread.

Thanks! There will be an update shortly. I've been tied up all summer with work but at least now I have the money for a wiring harness and many more odds and ends that I need to get this thing on the road. I'm getting close to having all of the parts for the LS2. Having never messed with LS engines it's taken a lot of time to gather all of the parts and knowledge I think I need to build this think and actually have it fire off and run. Hopefully soon.

Well here you go. It's not much but I did get a few things going. I put filler on the tubs that I widened and blocked it flat. I've still got some sanding to do on the edges but they're looking good. I screwed the roll pan to the back sill. I think I'm going to work the sides and keep the seam between them and the end of the bed sides. I've always thought it looked weird to just weld them together and slap filler over it.

Come on man, it doesn't look that bad... By the way - nice job on the tubs~

With you on the seam.......I just ripped mine out and redid it so that it had the seam....lol

Nice tubs, fully agree on the pan gap...had a guy weld up the rocker seam on an old '72, always looked goofy.

thanks guys. Qwiktruk, your truck is awesome just like it is. Don't let me or anyone else tell you different. I'm thinking about welding on some "eyebrows" like the one's on the new Dodge truck bumpers. The pipes would exit under them and hang about half way under the bottom of the pan. Not sure yet.

Like it, I spotted those too...but its in the one day file, look forward to see it.

Thanks ! That will look great when you get it done!!!

My body mods were done 12 years ago when there were only a few of our trucks in my home area being hot rodded.

I used to run the tips through those squares in the pan but it makes a mess on the whole rear of the truck and I decided to turn 'em down and put mesh there instead of welding the holes up.

Gettin lazy in my old age...lol

The screens are very subtle, I didn't notice them til now. I need some of your lazy, your truck was my background for months completely off the hook. She looks amazing for twelve years old, you must be a visionary...not many of these trucks being built back then.

I got one side of the roll pan/bed side done. On to the other. I tig welded it and took it slow. It takes a little longer than with the mig but there's less grinding and tacking pin holes and grinding, etc.

I think I might end up doing something similar to the top of the Dodge tailgate too. It would almost mimic the rear of the cap on my cab but it wouldn't stick out quite as far.

The way Shrunken66Stroker did it is a better method to insure a straight frame.
Take, for example; cutting it straight down and then being off by 1/16 of an inch. Now multiply that 1/16" by half the length of the frame. It only takes being off by a small fraction to translate to much over the length of the frame.

Epoxy primed the tubs. One step at a time. I also went junk yard shopping and got a gas pedal, e-brake mechanism and complete cable set up.

I dig the direction your going - those 8 hole wheels look great - Ive been thinking lately of deviating from my www ol skool look and starting to set my 64lwb up nascar style (i know that probably sounds retarded but the rear suspension is right anyway!) with a similar wheel combo like yours

good job man!

Vegas and Pheonix are way to hot for me. Been there and done that.:waah: Hesperia Ca has the type of weather right in the middle of LA, and Vegas. It's dry but windy. ;)

The bends, cones, collectors and straight pipe came from Columbia River Mandrel or www.mandrel-bends.com. The kit is called the ultimate builder kit. The header and collector flanges came from Cone Engineering, which it turns out is the supplier for Columbia River.
