Re: Daverods project 66
hey dave check out my photobucket at my headers on my motor.
http://s581.photobucket.com/albums/ss260/ruffrida2005/ These are the headers I'm using http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HOK-2466HKR/ Fit really good, I'm running a 350T and the left header is close to the bell housing but no clearance problems. You know I still haven't made a build thread I might need to start but I dont have anything more to show. |
Re: Daverods project 66
Thanks Ruff I enjoyed the pics. Your truck is going to awsome. You better start a build thread, today.;) I like your headers because they don't hang way down. Even though I'm going to be putting my 350 in my 64 for now I might use it on my 66 later, so the headers work work better ether way. I think I;m going to get the ones you have. I'm going to leave the 3 speed into for now but I don't think I'll have any clearance issues.:uhmk:Start a thread

Re: Daverods project 66
I dont think that you will. did you check out the video that I have on their, You'll like it, Me and my soldiers hooked up out contact truck in Iraq!
|
Re: Daverods project 66
I'll check it out. Why did'nt you move your notch forward more so it cleared your swing arms?
|
Re: Daverods project 66
The video was great. Reminded me of my days with the 1016th. I'm surprised you did'nt try to lower the hummer. spinners on a hummer that's funny. You should have welded some 50 cal. bullets on them. :metal:

Re: Daverods project 66
I'm not using the trailing arms, I'm putting 2x2 on the outside so I have room for the mufflers on the inside. I may end up making it a little diffrent. Like angle the front. But I did it that way so I can have room in the front of my bed for my 8 gal air tank. My fuel cell will take up all the back.

Re: Daverods project 66
Figured out what the problem with my temp lights was. The wiring harness that ran along the side of the valve cover was wasted. The two wires that go tothe temp sensor and the one wire that goes to coil where bare. No wonder both lights would come on some time. Put new wires in, good as new. Runs a lot smoother too. I can't believe it even ran with all the wires touching like that. I'm not sure what the one wire for the coil is for but it could'nt have been good.:mm: Wish bone kit is on the way.:metal:

Re: Daverods project 66

Re: Daverods project 66
well I hope you get it in 3-4 weeks. My crossmember took a while, but I also told Jason I was in Iraq and to take his time. took a couple months, They were supper busy. I need to get a hand gun, I'm paranoid that someones always trying to break into my house, so my shotgun stays loaded with buck. Iraq messes with a man, and 3 tours isn't good either.

Rebuilt the carb on my 292 what a difference. The accerator pump was shot so it would stumble when it took off. Now it's perfect. The float was set wrong also. Set that right. Thing about putting in a HEI distributor. Saw some on ebay for like $65. What the diff between HEI and MSD? I think just the kit to convert was $100 at checker. I'll have to look at ebay again. Cleaned my engine, shot some paint on it. Put some kitty hair on my shifter blended it in better.:smoke: Think I should move my gas line?

Re: Daverods project 66
WHat brand and color is the apint that you used on the valve cover and breather? It is bright!! And I like it!!

Re: Daverods project 66
did you prime and clear it? VHT makes all that stuff in the rattle can. It's what I've got on my motor and trans!
|
Re: Daverods project 66
I primed it with etch did'nt clear it. I was just messing around it was left over from doing my valve covers on my 350. ;)
|
Re: Daverods project 66
I think the only thing you need to worry about with an HEI is that you have a full 12 volts into the coil. Alot of the older cars and trucks had a resistor wire that dropped the voltage to like 9 volts.
You can run a new wire from your fuse block, and use a continual use solenoid to power the ignition, and that also makes it easy to make a kill switch you can hide for theft protection and or safety. Also make sure to use high voltage plug wires, and resistor plugs, and increase your plug gap. |

Welded my dash onto the lip from the old dash. After getting the ends to fit good I welded the front back in. Also welded up the seams around the windshield.:smoke: Drilled some holes for my vents. Ordered some side view mirrors from LMC. I got the round kind. Said 3 to 5 days. I've heard they're slow, we'll see. I guess today will be day 1. Kind worried about the way my gas line runs over the top of my valve cover. It's suppost to run around the front. LMC had a prebent one but it was $30. Going to see if I can find one somewhere.

Re: Daverods project 66
You could just get a length of steel line from your local auto parts and bend it yourself.

Re: Daverods project 66
Thanks Capt. Thats what I did came up 2" short though. It only cost $4.50 next time I'll buy one longer. Got my mirrors from LMC. The holes in my door don't line up right so I'll have to drill some new ones and weld some nuts on.
