I don't think it is. That one was for sale in the classified section here for $2500 without the wheels, and I think it was in Cali. Quote:

Wow, I don't know where to begin! I found this site right after I bought my dream truck and was looking for ideas for paint and so forth. I've been looking for years for a 81-91 crewcab but they are rare. I also wanted a fleetside dually, which I've only seen a couple times and they were regular cabs. I figured if I could find a CC 3/4 ton I could swap in the narrow rearend and build it myself, but I got lucky and found a 1 ton already built this way. My new project is a 1982 K30 3+3. P.O. told me he thought it came through as a cab and chassis, had a wrecker body put on it which was removed around 1988 atthe dealer, who swapped the wrecker body onto a new truck, then added the missing rear framerail ends, tubbed out a regular fleetside bed and dropped it on. It was very obvious the paint didn't match on the bed, also the bed rotted away and the rest of the truck is really solid (for NH anyway). He was asking $1500, talked him down to $1350 because it had a fuel leak ($5 hose) and starting problems after a new starter install (flexplate $44). Towed it home and have so far invested about $400 more in it, which netted me a mint 8 foot fleetside bed and tailgate, new front bumper and four mint doors. I love how easy the old trucks are to work on. If you've got a 1/2 inch and a 9/16 wrench you can disassemble and rebuild almost the entire truck.
After pretty much making up my mind to paint it all black, I saw the blue and white one on page 21, that is so stunning it makes me want to copy it. But it would mean a huge interior renewal, and I've already got a decent red interior. So I don't know what I'm going to do. I'd like to do a two-tone, but red interior limits me some. Maybe black with a burgundy stripe. I also bought a 4 inch suspension lift for it, and will probably be putting 235/85/16s on it. I like lifted trucks but unfortunately duallys limit your choices a lot. Plus, I don't want them to stick out in the back, the tucked look is kind of the whole point here. I have 255/85s with 1.5 inch spacers on my 97 dually, but they would hang out and require flares in the fleetside. Any tire size input would be appreciated. I'm changing the nose to an 87 because that was my favorite style, hated the 82. And the blue and white one I noticed has chrome instead of flat silver headlight buckets, and chrome grille strip instead of body color. I think I can duplicate that, IIRC the 83 quad headlight buckets were chrome plated then painted over. Nice touch on that truck. Anyway, sorry for the long post, thanks for listening and glad I found you. I'm going to try to post a cellphone camera pic now, I'm not great at posting pics. |

Re: How about some pics of 73-91 crew cabs
Yeah I had seen the shop truck, but the Hill's sticker in the window made me think that they had done some work to it.

On a side note, did you happen to put the visor on the blue truck on yourself and wire it in? I have one to put on mine, but IDK how to wire it in. |
Re: How about some pics of 73-91 crew cabs
Yep put it on myself, and put the lites on too. They are 3/4" LEDs that I got at Fleetpride. They are friggin brite at nite!!! I soldered the wired together, then just ran them under the weather strip, ground is at one of the visor screws, and used a scotchlock for the power to the dash lites. That wasn't intentional, just found a hot wire with the lights on. Now I can turn down the brightness if they get to be too much.
|
Re: How about some pics of 73-91 crew cabs
Oh, I thought they were the original lights to the visor, like mine. Thanks for the help though.
|
Re: How about some pics of 73-91 crew cabs
This one never had any lites. I personally like them with the lites, but couldn't find one. These are different than the everyday ones, stands out a little.
Got a visor for the crew too, but since that already has the lites, not gonna put them on, 10 lites would be a little much. |
Re: How about some pics of 73-91 crew cabs
