OK guys, I love the power of the 383 and the vortech, but I'm a LS guy at heart...., so here's revision 3.2.9.7a.......

Building blocks: LQ4, L92 heads, Magnuson TVS1900, Thorley big tube headers, 4L80E........I'm looking for around 700HP at the crank with about 600 to the wheels. I want streetability, reliability and decent fuel mileage (:D). Here's a link to motor build up page:

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=551464

Please reply here on that link with suggestions and recommendations (Cam/springs/stall). Thanks in advance.

Nice !!

I have been playing with LS based engines for a while. Have a 427 stroker LS3 in my 2010 Camaro with a Kenne Bell 2.8 Supercharger on 12 psi and 93 pump gas making about 900 flywheel and 735 to the tire. ( Auto eats up 18%).

Its a LOT of fun, should really be a blast in a C10 !!!! :metal:

I run a custom grind Comp Cam that was spec by Jannetty Racing, and my convertor is a 2600 stall. I am using Patriot Performance "Gold" Springs on stock LS3 heads that were ported by Patriot Performance also.

Good Luck with your project, its gonna be a runner for sure!

Thanks for the info! I'll hit you up with some more questions later.

*** UPDATES!! ***

Picked up a nice steering wheel to match my Billet Specialty wheels (thanks JWALL!!!) Also, the first motor I was looking at didn't work out (long story...:waah:...can some please delete those pictures???), so I've tracked down two other candidates:

1st: L76/6L90E out of an 09 G8 with 16K miles.
2nd: L99/6L90E out of a 11 Chevy truck with only 900 miles!!

Any thoughts to which one might be better for running the TVS1900 Magnacharger???

Thanks! I was afraid it might be to much for the interior, but it goes with it quite well. I think it will also compliment the Dakota Digital gauges once they are installed.

I finally installed my CPP front tubular A-arms and 1.25" sway bar. This should help get a better alignment without so many shims. Plus they look way cooler than the bulky factory ones, :metal:. Also, the new arms weigh about 10 lbs per side less, so I guess that's another positive :). I also upgraded the u-bolts that hold the lower control arms 3/8" to 1/2". After all was said and done, the ride height remained exactly the same, who would have guessed???? Still gathering parts for the LS swap.....

Love the steering wheel, looks great.

Just remember if you buy one of those, they will most likely have AFM (Active Fuel Management) which turns off cylinders to conserve fuel. It does this by the lifters...so if you decicde to put in a nice rumpity cam...you will have to change out all the lifters, lifter buckets, cam sprocket, upper plate (under intake) and pushrods.
Not sure if either one of those has VVT (variable valve timing), in which you will have to change out a few more pieces like the timing cover and a couple of other small pieces if I remember correctly, to do a the bumping cam also.
Just do a little research before you buy and hollar a me if you have any questions. ;)

Is there a bigger factory cam (Corvette??) that will work with VVT or AFM? Should I just leave the motor stock and add the supercharger and take it as is? Is the iron block preferable over the aluminum G8 block? PM me your phone number when you get a chance, I would like to discuss this more.

The LS9 cam is a great factory cam. works well with superchargers and turbos. no lope. But it doesnt work with VVT or AFM.

I would probably do the G8 engine if it was me. Some guys really love the iron block, but its not really necessary. look at my SS..aluminum 6.2 block bored and stroked to 427 cubes and mine makes 896 flywheel horsepower ;)

You can always run the stock G8 with the supercharger for now....then later on swap out the cam and respective parts.

Wow what a great score, you are a lucky man, did you get the computer and wiring harness with it?
Also is that one where the computer requires the cluster/information display center to work correctly?
I guess I'm just wondering whats it takes to put one of these in a c10 and work correctly.

I got the complete engine/tranny, all accessories, computer, electric pedal and wiring harnes. I'm not sure about the cluster. I talked to John at Speartech and he's going to build me a custom harness for it.
