I sanded off about four coats of globbed on paint from the inside of my bed and sprayed it with three coats of rattle can bedliner. It has a decent texture and seems to be pretty hard but was difficult to avoid streaks. It is Dupli-color brand. I also installed stainless side strips from Mar-K useing stainless truss head screws. Was going to spot weld it on but decided screws would be better for preventing future rust between the strip and bed side. My original side strips had long ago been removed and replaced with pop riveted angle iron.

The board in the pic are just there to position the strips, bed wood is my next project.

Pulled these much needed parts off of the neighbors parts truck, saved me lots of money! Going to clean them up and get them working!

Awesome that's cool to hear! I needed that along with the vacuum windshield wipers. I have the rest of the pieces just not shown. Do you have any idea how much the deluxe heater would bring in this condition? Just wonder, i will Not be selling it so its all good. ;)

Daze57 05-03-2012 10:24 PM

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

honest - not sure on sellin price but when working correctly they are really real good !
make sure all the insides are there and replace the thick rubber bands that band the 2 parts together - do you know how to put it in ? and good score on the wipers

Rednek13x 05-03-2012 10:31 PM

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

All the insides seem to be there and intact. I just took everything apart so putting back together should be a breeze, Everything moves freely too so that is nice. Which is really surprising because the rest of the truck or cab is pretty much rusted out and falling apart.

skip the wiper motor and go electric.

I know they dont work well, but i like the "cool" factor, plus i would like to keep the truck as stock as possible. Maybe one day ill go electric, for now, vacuum! :)

Great score on the heater. I was hoping to find one before I gave up and went with a Vintage Aire setup. I was watching one on EBay that looked to be in about the same condition as yours. It went to $370 but I had already lost interest long before that.

Lookin' good. A 3 or 5 axis laser works well for squaring the rear cross member to the frame. Does the Camaro rear cross member have locating pins like the corvette? You're going to like that setup. Good luck with the build.

Thanks guys! very nice of you to say.

The seat is an after market seat by a company call TEA's design. It fits the truck great and i love how comfy it is.

Thanks again Ray

Six hours banging, plastic & sanding. Hood is almost perfect. Some silver dollar size dents from shutting it to hard, no rust.

Don't forget to get remove from that loaner truck the adapter plate that mounts to the side wall of the inner cab. This adapter plate joins the blower fan ( via a wide rubber sleeve ) to fresh outside air:

Nothing, but found this old Chevy grille (probably 29-31 based on what he had as a kid) in my Dad's storage container. Also brought back two boxes of old hub caps (some AD) and saw an old gas pump buried in the back.

Looks pretty damned good in the photo. Does it look that flawless in person? If so, you might just have a future as a painter, huh?

Is it satin or are you clear coating it?

Thanks, and yes it looks even better in person! Even better now it's on the truck.lol
it's going to stay satin, i hope to do the rest of the truck and maybe some day down the road i'll put some color on her. Thanks for the job offer but it would cost me money to do body work for a living. lol Don't get me wrong i love how nice it came out but it took me ten times the amount of time to get it right... lol

Thanks Ray
