Re: Project#2 67-72 Restoration's Shop truck
Ended up relaxing with family this afternoon since I will be traveling all week. Just wanted to take this time to thank Nick (Bmerdoc) again for all his help on this project. It was really cool to hear the truck running last night!

Re: Project#2 67-72 Restoration's Shop truck
This truck has been an uphill battle so it was a great feeling of accomplishment when we fired the engine! Don't work too hard this week!

Re: Project#2 67-72 Restoration's Shop truck
I'll try not to. Not so much hard work as a lot of driving. Got the grass cut before the rain thankfully so that'll buy me a few days before that's needed again...lol
Ordering some dropped A-arms to get this thing sitting lower in the front and so there can be more air in the bags when riding for a nicer ride. Paid for them today and hope to have them by the time I get it towed to the dealership. |
Re: Project#2 67-72 Restoration's Shop truck
Your truck looks cool!
Did you get your other truck build done for a board member? I thought I subscribed to that thread but I can't find it. |

The other project has been on hold until I can move this one out. (Both were on hold for a while due to my work schedule) I was supposed to get a chance to work on it at the body shop it's at, but that agreement fell through so it's been sitting there waiting for me to be able to move it here...I have to have this one moving on its' own power so I can roll the other truck into the garage. My neighborhood HOA wouldn't let me have a project in the driveway....:waah: HOWEVER...I just made a purchase that should move the other truck project forward a lot...I'll update after I review it with the owner and post on the build thread. (the link (Project #1) is in my signature) |

Re: Project#2 67-72 Restoration's Shop truck
Thanks, I had a local guy do the belts for me and supplied him with really nice cores...I don't remember how much right now.
I got a new wiper jar (couldn't put a yellowed original in the purdy engine bay  And got the 5 gallon air tank in black with brackets to mount to the frame. Might have some time to do a few things this weekend but need to get my welder working again (feed is working intermittently at best |
Re: Project#2 67-72 Restoration's Shop truck
Tonight 2manyprojects (Richard) came over to help me out. We got the tranny linkage hooked up (it's a lokar style) and tightened up the steering column, filled the tranny with fluid and we have park and gear selection now ;) Looking forward to a test drive possibly this weekend (around the block) but definitely early next week.
Had a setback last week (that I forgot to post about) that I took care of today. When I mounted the wiper cowl the hood was hitting it. So I went to adjust the hinges and the repair I had done back when I first got the hood failed on me....when it did the passenger hinge buckled. So with 2manyprojects help we got the hood off, swapped in a good hinge (nice to have my own "parts store" :chevy: ) and welded up the capture nut on the hood nice and solid. Ground it down, hit it with satin black and reinstalled the hood. Needs a bit of adjustment still but it's close. I found more rust in the passenger door so I cut out a larger section. Got my welder working better so tomorrow I will weld in the door patches. after that's done I will be able to install the door panels (main and lower), mount the seat and visors to button up the interior. |

Was cleaning up the metal to weld on the door last night and found this....cut it out and started trimming the panel to go in place before it got too late for tools. Turned my attention to the interior. Got the panels mocked up. Going to look sweeet! Today the weather hasn't cooperated when I've been home....
Going to be a thrash tomorrow, mon and tues before this truck is picked up wed. Anyone wanna come help? :chevy: Posted via Mobile Device Posted via Mobile Device |

I like the interior choice !

Re: Project#2 67-72 Restoration's Shop truck
Yeesh major rust damage to a door lower section is definately not what you want to find with only a few days left to complete the build, can you get the door bottom inner ($30) and lower skin ($17) locally so you don't have to fabricate anything?

Re: Project#2 67-72 Restoration's Shop truck
Thanks guys, yeah, I was bummed with the rust. Thought it was just a little spot. But overall the truck is still really solid.
I FINALLY got the correct power steering pressure line and got a low pressure line that works. It's all hooked up now. Only took 5 or 6 tries to get parts that would work ;) Put the wipers on so the interior is done now ;) Got the bed mounted...had forgotten it was just sitting there loosely. Working on the last of the wiring now. After a quick meal break I'm headed back outside. |

Re: Project#2 67-72 Restoration's Shop truck
Got a little bit of a shock today when the shipping company called and told me they were coming Tuesday at 9am...instead of Wed afternoon or Thurs like the buyer and I first thought. Going to do everything I can to try to get done in time but not sure if it'll be 100%....already have talked to the buyer and we'll work it out if some things are left unfinished.

Anyone wanna come over and help? :chevy:

Re: Project#2 67-72 Restoration's Shop truck
Got the rear lights working and all turn signals and the flasher and brake lights work...
even the license plate light works ;) Buttoned up the booster install (found the clip for the plunger) that'll make Bmerdoc happy because it was sketchy without that in and he always worried we'd forget it) Mounted the dual horns and tested but no power so I'm doing some diagnostics and looking at wiring diagrams now. Still working on the wipers...going to replace a switch if I can't find an obvious issue...they worked though before I was running wires up in the upper dash so I think something is just loose so I'm going to take all the connectors off, clean up, and reconnect first. In looking at the wiring then will head back out for a LATE night working on wiring/misc interior stuff. |
Re: Project#2 67-72 Restoration's Shop truck
Push on brother! You'll get it done!!

Re: Project#2 67-72 Restoration's Shop truck
After a late night thrashing at BMERDOC's work and then having it hauled back to my house for several more hours of work with a quick nap...the truck was picked up by the transporter. I didn't get everything finished because they came early but it drove onto the enclosed trailer for the drive down to Florida. I didn't get any pictures because I was too busy working on it the whole time. Hoping I'll get some pictures from the buyer. I got to drive it about 10 feet this morning  My girls were upset they didn't get the ride I promised but I still have project #1 and will be looking for a cheap driver for me as well. Sad to see it go and really wanted to see it all together but sometimes you have to let go...

Re: Project#2 67-72 Restoration's Shop truck
Well I'm sure you're glad to have it out of the way! I hope we will get to see some pics!
