Went to town and picked up a set of front sway bar bushings. Got the new brackets ordered. The parts guy is letting me buy the parts at the same price as classis parts.com. They have the best prices around that i have seen. polly bushings for 19.99 set of 4.
Then I went to work on the rear fender. I still have a little grinding to do. And Gentermen I willl be done with my metal work. |

Today, I did a little more tinkering around with the body work. I finshed with the rear fender and now I have applied some bondo. Tomorrow, I will finshed sanding the fender where I repaired the rust holes. There were a few dents on the inside of the wheel well on the fender front.

Today, is Easter Sunday and all I did was sleep and spend time with my family. I was so tired and worn out. I ordered the sway bar brackets. I got the new bushings in and waiting for the brackets.
Yesterday, I finshed the small repair on the rear fender drivers side. |

Iwent to a car and truck show sat. I was a little dispointed a little. There was only one Chevrolet truck and it was a 59. There was 4 others and they were fords. Wanted to see the work people have done local. but that did not happen.

Re: 1968 color orange

Today, I figured I might as well dive into the color. I shot some color on the glove box door and the crowl. It came out real nice. My neighbor came over and he said that it looked real deep. Like it has several coats. I only shot 2 coats. I like this paint. It is the same paint kubota paints their machinery with. It is some what costly. I was thinking of a dark orange like burnt orange. But when this color came my way I liked it. The price was in my ball park. My youngest son bought it for another car but never used it. FREE that for me. It savied me a few bucks.

Re: 1968
Tomorrow if everything goes as planned. I will shoot the inside of the cab. That way I can finshed painting the cab floor black. Then I can put down the sound matts. I hope I am not getting ahead of myself. But do want to see some color on the cab. I guess I just can't wait. What do you guys think.

Re: 1968
ooooh color! I take it this is a single stage paint? I wouldn't paint any of the exterior surfaces untill the body work is done, but if you want to prep and paint the interior go for it!

Re: 1968
Well It didn't go as planned. I had another Dr. appointment today. The Dr gave me a brace for my back. He must be doing crack, if he thinks I can wear this thing and still do my work.
So I did not do crap on my truck today. Only painted the push buttom hold down bracket, the hinge and stricket plate for the glove box door. Not a lot to report maybe tomorrow will be better. |
Re: 1968
Well even if it slows you down a bit, you're still flying along. He must've said you could still work on the truck, so at least you can still. I'm guessing it won't keep you down too much. You're too close to the finish line!

Re: 1968
You only got one back.
You more than deserve a rest. You could take a month off and I won't say anything bad.:metal: My little brother hurt his back and suffered 10 yrs of pain, couldn't sit, temporarily paralyzed 3 times. Finally had to have 3 vertebrates fused and a cage. 2 yrs later is at about 70% Take a rest....... you deserve it. |

thanks for the comments. I will try and take a break, but I see the finish line and just have to see it to the end. Never say quit at this stage. |

Today, it is raining all day so not much could be done. yesterday I painted the hinge, support arm and the push button brackets on the back for the glove box. So today I put it all together and it looks good. At least I think so.

Re: 1968
also wired wheeled the sterring colum and painted it black. The shaft in the colum was bent so I changed it. I need to get me a set of bearings for the lower part of the colum. and a gear indiator on the top of the colum. Don't want to spend to much money on it, for I don't know if I am going to keep it. Or get another one.
|
Re: 1968
Rained again today. So no work on patches again. It should be nice tomorrow and I am going to shoot some color in the cab. I did some sanding on the primer but that took me only a few minutes. I was thinking about shooting color, but in the back of my mind it said the huminity was too high. I glad I listen to myself.

Re: 1968
I'm really enjoying this build. Decent quality work. Close to stock. No over-the-top budget-busting parts. Great documentation. Nice work! I'm subscribed.

Re: 1968

Re: 1968
Man that orange really stands out, the color really reminds me of the Hugger Orange they put on Camaros, it looks real nice, it looks like you could use a few tips on masking though

Re: 1968
