I guess its acceptable.

I'd say more than acceptable, very nice job! A trick I learned a long time ago from an "old timer": When painting a single stage metallic that tends to mottle is after the last coat is sprayed take whats left in the cup and fill the cup with reducer. Then drop the pressure to about 20 lbs. Open the fan pattern wide open and mist over the whole part. The reducer will melt in and the metallic will settle evenly. It worked for me on a 77 step side I sprayed years ago.

Hard to use old school on new paints. I'm a deluxe centari paint guy . The open period was a lot longer then but Its all good for a truck that will be used as as a truck. My Teckna spray gun likes at least 2 bar or it just spits. Should just dust off the old Binks No. 7.

Really didn't think I would like the saddle fawn color . I was contemplating 503 green for the truck but now I really like the color.

Wood is working out nicely. Drilling all the holes then going to seal it . Need to hit it with some 220 on the da sander first . Decided to leave it raw no stain . Just seems to go better with the paint .

Looks nice! I want to eventually do something with my truck's dash. The vacant gauge hole on the right will be for trans temp, and the tach will replace the vacuum gauge as in your location. I'd like to do something with the gas gauge, with a way to tell fuel level in the main and saddle tanks. I know that that option was out there; I just need to research it. It looks goofy to have that huge gauge for the fuel level, to me.

Finally located a new (reman) gearbox. Claims its a 3.5 turn. Almost completely installed. I just have to finish hooking up the steering shaft and linkage. It's a PITA to do by yourself, on your back with the sun blazing on you, after a full day shift at work, and sweat running down into your eyes.

Thanks, I’m pretty satisfied with how it turned out. I’m trying to convince a buddy who does silk screens to make patterns for gauges so I can modify to my liking, he says he needs to figure out a new program...I’ll let you know if it’s a go!

Not today, but this past weekend I did use it for it's intended purpose. Took it to my cabin for the weekend and brought back some firewood.

All the holes worked out perfectly. Helps having a drill press too. Had a hard time finding a 1 9/16ths fostner bit. Girl at the local wood working shop broke up a set for me. Sanded and sealed the undersides of the bed wood this afternoon.

I pieced together enough from eBay. You have to be real careful as I’ve seen some advertised as such but seem to lack OEM markings. Here’s a NOS example next to N OEM example - see the diamond mark common to both. I removed overseas made new nuts from my k20.

Sunday I went for a cruise in my truck, delivering my daughter's bed and frame to her new apartment. We just got back from a vacation to Italy, and cruise to the Greek Isles - so it was nice to come back home and drive the old truck, (after dodging all the crazy little Fiats over there). We also celebrated the birth of a new granddaughter!

Loved our trip to Italy! Can't wait to go back. Where all did you go? We drove from Rome, to Sienna, to Florence, to Venice, then took a train to Milan - spending 2 or 3 days at each location. Got stopped and ticketed on the way to Venice for passing a truck, while driving one of those Fiats! :metal:

Anyway - to stay on topic - I've replaced the window felt on the driver's window, new wheels and tires, just received new side marker lenses and ordered LED's for them. Replaced the radiator cap. This was all over the last couple of weeks.

I've been working on a glove box door restoration for an idea I have. Spent the weekend working on stripping paint. Either today's aircraft paint strippers are weak as water, or Chevy Truck paint is hard as nails, because I had to do a lot of power sanding and wire wheeling on these parts! The stripper barely bubbled anything at all - maybe a few square inches...

Cleaned up another cluster. Daughter painted the needles. Left the centers unpainted.
Not sure about leaving it all chrome or not.
Either way the hokey tach is going away.

I have used Mr Gasket aerosol gasket remover with good results in the past. Just take care as it is messy and toxic.
