Sorry wrong pic. No airbags installed yet. Basically the rundown, I built my own crossmember and lowered the truck about 4 1/2 inches with stock spindles and control arms. didn't need it to lay out since it will be a driver. Still have to raise engine about 1 1/2 for rack clearance. will box and gussett everything after I fit a cpl more pieces, then make it look pretty, LOL!. Also have all the Painless wiring harnesses laid out, too. Hope to start on the dash and sheet metal work next week. Body going to media blasting while I finish chassis.
Hey guys, all your projects are looking great too! There's alot of talent in this group, just hope mine will stack up. BTW we plan on attending the Midwest All Truck Nats with both projects. Look forward to meeting some of you.

Pulled the back up project out of the back of the shop......started washing it and cleaning it up....might as well start working on that again while the prostreet truck is in the body shop......

Thanks! I'm assuming you meant "burb" not "burp"? It's a '64 GMC panel with Hersheys logos painted on the sides. I think it was a holiday special.

I grinded some of the usual rusty areas down to bare metal (wire wheel on a grinder, works great) to see how bad they were. No real surprises. I also removed the vertical driprails on the A-pillars since they were rusty anyway. It looks better without them. I don't even know why they were there. Anyway, I gave it two good hours, so that's progress...

I removed the air vent panel on the passenger side. Lots and lots of rivets. Now all I need to do is find another one in better shape. Anybody got one that they will part with? I also decided to start repair of my radiator support. I haven't been able to find a used one in any better shape than what I've got for a decent price so I decided to try my hand at repairing the one I've got. It didn't look that bad from the outside but I knew there was rust lurking beneath the mounts like there is on most of these. The rest of the support will be fine, just some surface rust and I'm showing is the worst of the two mounts.

What do you consider a fair price for a used Radiator support?

I think the shipping is what would kill it. Now that I've dug in to the old one I'm going to see if I can repair it and practice my fabrication skills. No wait, I don't have any fabrication skills. Well It's something to practice on and the worse thing that can happen is I'll have to find another, but lots of money saved if I can pull it off.

Is there a steel scrap yard near you...usually you`ll find what you need at a decent price..and the right size....done that several times in the past for projects.

Took it for a ride twice today, just couldn't get enough of the sunshine and unseasonably warm 46 degree temperature.

What motor mounts did you use for your big block? Ive got tubular perches, but have heard differnt things about the motor mounts. Be putting a 427 in the truck here in a few weeks

Well had a great work day on the chassis...it's been sitting a while so I didn't want to take any chances....drained the oil poured it back in the top half on each side.....pulled the distributor out and drove the oil pump until it came back up into the pushrods and heads...pulled the plugs ( which was a pain because i had to take the headers off to get at 3 of the plugs, apparently there is going to be a modification of the bolt flange before those go back on )..light spray of WD40 into the cylinders.Polished both value covers and breathers, polished some of the other bits and parts. Rolled it over by hand a bit while the plugs were out and it's all good and ready to go . I hope at some point on the weekend to fire it up and hear it run....
