Brothers, CPP make degree shims to put your yoke back at the right angle. The shims go between your trailing arms and axle pad to angle the rear end up or down. Pinion angle is a big discussion. Basically if the tranny is 3 degrees down the rear end need 3 degrees up from level ground. So if your truck has any rake that adds to the angle but still the same. Even if parked on a slope. Make sense?

Yep makes sense!

Okay I can do that too! Thx

Okay I guess I can google that "checking pinion angle"?
And what the heck can I shim?
You are 100% correct on it being frustrating! 100%!

If you have or haven"t found information on pinion angle for our trucks specifically, I can tell you that unless the suspension has been highly modified, chances are, pinion angle has not been affected enough to worry about. However. pinion angle, on our trucks, is adjusted by putting a shim between the axle and trailing arm. This is the cheapest and easiest way to do it.
And I see now that I have posted that others have told you that too...

Finally got around to replacing the water pump today...well actually tonight after work. It's amazing how much quieter it is! The bearing in the old one was shot, but it wasn't leaking out of the weep hole yet. I swear these 6's are bullet proof!

That's going to be one NICE 62. Keep up the great work.

Seeing the pics of the body work your are doing makes me a little sick, because last weekend I just bent the rail above the grill (the one in your last pic) and have to try to bend it back out as much as possible without damaging the existing paint.

Waiting for PorterBuilt crossmember install for the fronts 18x8 and 255/40 Nitto 555s.

Parts and powdercoat on list. Money money and more money. Plus just got a Dodge Cummings one ton 4x4. Only if Chevy had solid axle. Work better pickup.

Here's what I did today.. Gonna re-attach these tomorrow and work on getting the door mounted and the rocker panel fitted.. Should be really "fun".. I painted the inner parts of the door opening and the back sides of these parts.. (don't need photos of that though..)

Started with this...

and here's it all solid once again..

I got Frank ready to roll today rubbed out the new paint, not bad for doing it myself. But I can sure see why they get the big money for a good paint job it's damn hard work. It will be nice to drive Frank around again...Vernski:gmc2:

Installed bumper only to have to take it off and back to the shop. The chrome around the bolt holes is crap. Will also need to fill the gap behind bumper... see arrows. Last Happy St. Paddy's Day.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Truck wouldn't start yesterday, so I charged the battery all night. Put it in this morning and, click, click. Had it checked and it was at 58 amps after being charged all night. So I bought a new battery and put it in. Started right up, then my alternator light was on. Took out the voltage reg and put in another one I had and the alternator light went out. So...I think it's ok for now. I'm hoping the battery was the worst of it.

I bought them 3-4 years ago and I think it was Brothers Trucks, I ordered the bumper at the same time. I have seen them other places so they are out there, you could Google for them I think they are called splash pans, good luck...Vernski:lol:

Hi Don [famous last words I live across the tracks] Oneida & Idaho st. yellow house w/ shop out back, red roof. I went to the Burger Heaven meet one time last summer there wasn't no talkers so I just left. But in all fairness they had something going on at the time maybe next time will be different...Vernski:lol:

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I finally got started on my rear axle swap. Only things left to do now are, make shock mounts, find a brake hose that will work, make hard lines, fill it with oil and go.

http://i1285.photobucket.com/albums/...psff15a6b7.jpg

http://i1285.photobucket.com/albums/...ps4ccd9ed2.jpg

http://i1285.photobucket.com/albums/...ps0770d9c1.jpg

I ended up having to move the spring perches in 1 inch on each side and cut off both shock mounts, but that's not too big of a deal.

I did exactly nothing except watch the rain fall...the trucks outside with no garage or canopy to work under. Maybe it will stop raining by July...
