I've tried. Unfortunately, all I'm able to do is unplug myself and plug back in.

Nice! I also have a friend with a Silver Hawk.(I did not take this picture) Years ago I had a friend with a business called Royal Gorge Studebaker but he passed away. I'm not sure who ended up with all his cars and trucks and parts.

Re: Random Photos ‘You took’
He was a Studebaker specialty shop? That would have been a cool place to visit

Guy down the street doing renovations on his summer place . I stopped a few days ago he asked me a few questions and told him he needed to put up some temporary walls and brace from wall to wall since he took out the header on the front wall . He didn’t listen you can see where the roof was by the flashing on the chimney. Guess it’s a demo now

Re: Random Photos ‘You took’
He must have taken out more than just a header. The principle of the triangle is so simple, yet so many don't get it. Also span, deflection, compression, level, plumb, and gravity

It's a mess for sure. I just went by my ex-wife's and my friends' place Wednesday. They were the only other couple we knew and hung out with since we moved here 37 years ago, had similar interested. Jeff and Holly lived in a historic old home of local significance. The road was named after the little crossroad where the builders of this house had the Woodville Store. The main original part was log with many additions over the 200+ years it stood. Jeff had a '67 Firebird Convertible and we had a '63 Riviera. We'd go over there for the evening, they've come over to our place, or we'd go out together. They came to our family Christmas gathering, our kids' graduations, and were the God parents to my younger son. This place had a two story log (stone lower) springhouse that supplied their water, the firebird sat in the carriage house, log smokehouse, other sheds with standing seam roofs, and the two story frame store building Jeff used for his woodshop.
Well, first my wife left and kept the gossip going with Holly. So, I wasn't about to go visit just to be dispelling all the BS, so I stopped seeing them. A few years ago they sold the place and moved to Florida...whatever. The place sat there unchanged all this time. I guess it had been since last summer or winter that I had driven past there. On Wed I decided to go see if the new owners had started anything on the place. Let me tell you I was in shock, totally saddened at the ignorance. These people tore everything down! Probably to throw up some white vinyl board & batten with black dentist window "modern country **** box, same as about all you see going up these days. The 60s/70s chicken coupe contemporaries momentary trend of the post covid '20s era. It's not like they are in a hurry. They're wasting money on demo, hauling, and disposal when they could have sold the salvage rights and had the place left clean as part of that. I guess you can't buy smart when you have more money than sense The house Attachment 2296307 Springhouse Attachment 2296308 Smokehouse Attachment 2296309 Outbuilding Attachment 2296310 The store |
Re: Random Photos ‘You took’
That's what people do when they have no idea of what to do with something. Just demolish and start from scratch. If this is them, they are probably better off doing so instead of trying to rebuild the old place.
I know you love history Tim, but you can't save them all. ;) |

i've know about this car for 30 or more years, sitting by an old garage at what once a junkyard.there's still lots of old cars in the woods,in fact i got a couple of trim pieces years ago for my 67 Impala wagon.this is enough to make a grown man cry.people tried for ever to buy it but never able to.it's a 1967 Pontiac Beaumont SD ragtop.396,Turbo 400 and a 12 bolt.buckets and console.the rear bumper is under ground now and so is the bottom of the 396.what a waste.Beaumonts are Canadian Pontiacs,Chevrolet powertrains and were sold at Pontiac dealers in Canada, never in the U.S.highly sought after here and not alot left.this one is going nowhere in a hurry.

That's insane. Makes me sad. It could have been sold for 10 cents and made more sense. All this wasted good stuff we're showing.
Here is a log garage I'll be saving. It was built by a smart person from reclaimed hand hewn logs 30 years ago. A couple logs are rotted on the other side and I'm going to replace them |
