Remember the one tail light lens of the Rezin Rockit was missing.

Identified as Mk2 Ford Capri tail light.

That sounds exciting.

Do not discount the Two Wellers you have, depending on what you have.

Someone else may have one or two as well.

I think right now, finding an appropriate rear light lens is much more interesting

Fingers crossed your rummage unearths some treasures.
It’s a complete unit and it even looks like it’s the right side. Certainly it doesn’t fit anything I own so it’s available if you want it Wheels are stashed in my storage facility ( container on a farm ) they were bought for an Anglia project that didn’t happen so they’re unused but tatty having been in a shed since the 80’s. Think they’re 6 x 13 but I’ll check next time I’m up there

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

Back to the RX8 seats.

We had hoped that one could rob the rails from a passenger side seat to make it simply mechanically adjustable, removing all the motors etc, but it seems it is a fail too.

Drivers side.

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...911e3c75de.JPG

Passenger side.

Less weight.

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...a8a8907093.JPG

Maybe MX5 runners will work.

Time will tell.

In the mean time, looking at the dash and existing gauges on page 3 it becomes apparent that the builder must have had a job lot of cheap gauges, and fitted them all.

@CraigRK has offered me these to fit from his pile of saved junk.

Would be an improvement for sure.

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...4e731a76cd.JPG

Need to go do some work.

Grizz1963 09-06-2020 04:25 AM

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

So last night, after a day of doing various jobs, I decided to add a bit of red to the compressor room door.

Mistake.

Using a very old, hard brush and paint that really was runny, despite being enamel, I created even more work.

Now I will have to go back and detail it with a fine brush and some white enamel paint.

It will be nice once done, but maybe it should have been left alone.

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5094.HEIC

Saw this on the internet last night.

Inspiring

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...E_IMG_1341.JPG

This morning started with a smile.

Love a good sunrise or sunset.

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5098.HEIC

What a desperate Bootfair today.

By 6.30 when I got to the field it was filling at the exit already........

That’s a lot of people in a large field.

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5099.HEIC

It was massively full.

But just piles of rubbish, old clothes, and dirty used kitchen stuff.

Saw nothing.

In the end bought a better jockey wheel for the one shed caravan, than one fitted.

£5.00 from an asking price of £8.00

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

Suddenly the Rezin Rockit Road Trip is a reality.

https://forum.retro-rides.org/thread...c-rezin-rockit

Fetched the trailer today, generous loan by a neighbour 600 meter from home.

He threw in two spare ratchet tie downs to add to my lot.

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5117.HEIC

Interesting reversing it down here.

Tight

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...47b024aa62.JPG

On e through, I moved it right back and then unpacked all the glass from the Galaxy as collected earlier this week.

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...c956adb894.JPG

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5137.HEIC

Using the last of the deck wood from last years rebuild, I made up a basic crate for them all to sit in.

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5139.HEIC

Piled up.

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5143.HEIC

Closed in, wedged in and to be strapped down before heading out to Derbyshire en-route to Glasgow

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5148.HEIC

Tomorrow Fil and his partner Nikki land in the afternoon in their Sprinter camper van, then we BBQ and early Dark-0-Clock on Tuesday they head out.

Dropping off the glass for a large shed build, and overnight in Derbyshire before heading to Glasgow on Wednesday to collect the Rezin Rockit.

Seems we may be headed in the right direction.

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5195.HEIC

Hooked and ready to rock and roll.

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5199.HEIC

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

Well, trailer is packed, food has been consumed with gusto

Fil and Nikki are off when the wake up, seems Cumbria is not Derbyshire, but what do I know.

So as with any worthy road trip, food is the foundation

I had suggested we sacrifice something to appease the gods of fossil fuel.

Chopping up trees.

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...794482fc21.JPG

Fire started, and goddess of fire, Nikki ensuring it was hot enough.

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5204.HEIC

Fil who is doing all the hard work, driving to fetch the Rezin Rockit for me.

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...ca360b885f.JPG

And there was more.

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...262a33e2b5.JPG

And lastly, Mr Subtle and Incognito himself, who donated motor and transmission to this build, just headed out get bread and milk.

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...7_IMG_5219.JPG

Nikki has agreed to be the official photographer on the trip, to keep us updated and entertained

Bed time now I guess.

It’s ON !!

Sh!t just got real.

Leisurely start to Fil and Nikki’s trip up to go fetch the Thing after spending the night, camped on my driveway after declining a bed inside the house.

Anyone excited already ?

I am not losing sleep yet, but certainly laughing at this crazy thing I have started.

Should be fine in the end though.

I hope .

.

Currently the shell has an original Ford steering wheel fitted.

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...7_IMG_4481.JPG

Yes. Ugly imho.

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...9_IMG_4489.JPG

So I decided to walk away from the RX8 wheel that was lovely in red and black. But had controls on the front face etc.

So I do have these wheels in my stash.

Collected/bought over time from various sources. Including the crusher.

I think I have an idea of what I like and may do but as always open it for discussion and advice. Sometimes someone else has much better ideas.

This was headed to the council tip if nobody wanted it.

Collection only it said, other side of Portsmouth. It’s HEAVY

No problem, give mate @CraigRK a call to see if he can collect.

No problem he says, will arrange and do it over the weekend.

500kg capacity it seems.

Should lift a Rezin Rockit with ease, before motor is fitted plus my bike and other items as needed.

Thanks Twizzle.

Also great for hanging Heavy doors like on the Chevy Truck . I use mine quite a lot . I even used it for installing my gearbox.

I've got a jack like that I use to move all kinds of stuff. Changing out the front cross member on my 62 to an 82 with power steering and disc brakes went very smooth thanks to that jack.

Looking forward to the new not a project kinda sorta jeep type thing you got going now.

One Last Thing before bedtime.

Remember the missing rear light lens.

@spacekadett graciously sold me one from his stash for the car.

Postman delivered today.

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5272.HEIC

Wrapped as secure as a secure thing.

Cardboard, soft flooring, and a load of bubble wrap, twice around.

Very pleased with this.

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag..._IMG_5275.HEIC

It was a concern to me, as these Mk2 Capri lights don't just lay around everywhere.

Thanks again. One less obstacle.

Thought I would copy and paste Fils post on UKGSER to reflect his drivers view and perspective.

I did notice just how narrow my driveway is relative to the trailer.

I have limited data and limited time but here's a quick view from my side.

Having started off by doing nearly 100 miles to get to the start point it was great to arrive and find that Grizz and neighbour Micky had already got the trailer all loaded up and ready for me to hook up.

Grizz had build a crate for the windows which was more solid than many log cabins I've seen - but this is the way of the Grizz.

If it's done for you then it has to be done properly - if it's for someone else then you have to put a bit of extra effort into it :dabone

Truth is, I'm a bit that way too.

While Grizz was doing the last of the strapping I managed to catch him on Grizzcam

https://i.postimg.cc/rFYhL3xV/grizzcam.jpg

Once loaded and ready we settled in to a really nice evening and the first time we've really had a proper chance to 'hang out'

Armed with enough food to feed at least twice as many people as were around the table Grizz set about perfectly cooking some excellent meat and some (also very nice) token vegetables.

It seems that when presented with food and company of that quality you end up eating a lot more of it than you thought and there probably were not as many leftovers as we'd all thought!

Sign of a good night.

The reason for declining a bed in the house was that the plan was to head off at first light but it didn't quite work out that way. No worries when there's no real time constraints.

Woke up to a lovely view from my bedroom window

https://i.postimg.cc/43c2PPKJ/Wind1.jpg

and being the wonderful host that he is I also found a note on the van

https://i.postimg.cc/3rF6zttN/kettleon.jpg

After draining a mug of it's coffee it was time to head off.

Quick check on trailer cam

https://i.postimg.cc/RV0Py43p/Tcam.jpg

All good. It's actually a really nice trailer to tow.

Tried the other camera to see what I could check on the trailer with it.

https://i.postimg.cc/j2MM2k1h/Tcam2.jpg

Dramatic angles mainly. :D

Arrived at Haggs Bank Bunkhouse for our overnight stop. The place just gets nicer every time I come here.

https://i.postimg.cc/sgkwMWTb/crate.jpg

Crate dismantled, windows delivered, and bike in a barrow

https://i.postimg.cc/4NJC3DYp/barrow.jpg

Excellent, first leg completed with nothing more than a lost number plate an a 'moment' on the moor when a bit too much bouncing caused the brake on the trailer to come on.

If it had been reality TV that would have been made out to be a near-death incident but in truth I just stopped and released it and carried on. Lesson learned, take it slower on bumpy roads.

This morning's view from the bedroom window

https://i.postimg.cc/bN65wscj/Win2.jpg

Quick shower then ready for the off

Earlier start today as it is up to Scotland, near Ayr to unearth, upload, strap down and then return partway down South again.

Looks like the weather is being absolutely top notch.

Another update.

Sorry (not)

I am just sitting here with a silly grin at my computer. Thanks to Bill, Fil and other generous people, I am grinning.

Remember the lost trailer plate?

Door to door delivery.

And Bill just about to head out.

About as real time as you can get.

Except when Craig, Dennis and I got pulled over by an Arkansas State Trooper for significant speeding in the USA

So Bill shot over to the body shop where the Rezin Rockit was stored along with mate Gordon

Piece of cake for me watching in real time as it unfolded on web conference while Nikki did the picture capture duties.

Part two of todays action PHOTODUMP.

I really hope you all are enjoying the excess of photos and the process pics.

If not, you need to get off to Tinder as you clearly need more action.

While everyone scurried about, Fil was managing the ratchet straps.

As he mentioned elsewhere, Bill and Gordon have clearly done this a few times before, so the speed at which they loaded and strapped the Rezin Rockit down was impressive.

While dong his thing, he was handed this.......

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...f1e85133be.jpg

For my collection, very cool French plate.

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...861fb7bff0.jpg

Fill and Gordon getting on with t.

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...f22f16e266.jpg

So much space for very wide wheels and tyres/tires once it is lowered, a lot.

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...f6756ba938.jpg

Bill about to replace the plate Fil lost yesterday, that was amazingly sorted out overnight.

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...976d24a592.jpg

Caged animal ?

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...c0143f6cc3.jpg

More strapping down.

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...af957a743b.jpg

Front wheel does not hold air for more than 30 minutes. And it is nasty.

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...20a139ab2c.jpg

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...a437eb35a3.jpg

Hood/bonnet strapped down too, in case rubber retainers do a BOIIINNG on the motorway and deposit the hood on another car.

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...5abeb82951.jpg

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...d9ad40c6a4.jpg

Rear is not much better.

Would love it if I had another two alloys like on the other side.

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...1cccce33d5.jpg

Still not done.

With a load of straps, enough to create a mummy, the Rezin Rockit was strapped down

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...2d6586c56f.jpg

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...3ff553c712.jpg

£70.00 worth of Mazda RX8 seats as negotiated by Bill strapped down inside the tub.

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...7a5400e489.jpg

Love the way the front and rear bumpers have tow balls attached, one for pulling, one for pushing. Seen it used for launching boats.

The petrol cap, in fetching green plastic has all the hallmarks of a Molotov Coctail, just needing a rag and some matches.

Contented Fil.

Followed by a chat between Fil closest, and l-r Gordon, Bill and Scott, brother of Roy who sold me the Eagle RV.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

Of course there has to be a certain amount of fun when doing this sort of thing, or else it would not be fun, would it ?

So when Bill fetched the RX8 seats from Gordons van, he and Fil needed to test them first.

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...7da3e56066.jpg

Charging arounD to get them fitted

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...78bb5ee969.jpg

Yup........

Feels just right. And looks good from down here.
