I bought it from Brothers and it's Med Blue. It was a little lighter than i wanted but I think it will look good with the Blue and white seat. It took me a few Hours to get it cut and smoothed out. Just like any reproduction it has flaws you have to work out. I like it!

Fitted my 'UK legal' age-related number plates and took the bench seat out ready for the mother in law to retrim using the mexi blankets i've got.

Sprayed some WD40 around the elctrical connections to help keep the damp out due to our ****ty weather, but now the bloody truck wont start, no click from the starter....nothing........ :(

Two steps forward one big one backwards.

I only had a couple hours to work on the truck today, but I managed to get the passenger side cab corner welded in.

Nice going RaceCougar....I'm in the floorboard fixin stage as well. Every time I wire wheel I find another area. Spent this afternoon grinding off 1/2 inch of bondo on the rear part of the fender after I patched some more passenger floor board areas. Big thanks to mig and grinder and clamps and hammer...I couldn't have done this without you.

Mounted my freshly painted rear bumper and then removed it to trim a little more off. I had trimmed it before but realized when I put it back on that the trim job I did was based on it being slightly bent. When I straightened it out, it needed a shade more trimming.
Also took it to the car wash and sprayed off everything after a good dose of oven cleaner. Mostly concentrating on the back end. Next up is working on bed wood, so I am going to take off the bed and wire brush the frame, trailing arms, etc. and then paint with Rustoleum Rusty Metal Primer and Satin Black.

Oh, and I also added grounds from the taillight housing and the reverse light housing to the frame. Next is to move forward from the back end to the front and go through the old wiring rat's nest the PO has under the dash and hopefully get it all working correctly. Should just get a new wiring harness, but a little short on funds right now, so am gonna do it this way. I figure it will be a good education for when I do get the new wiring harness.

I have replaced most of my lighting with LED's. I started changing out my headlights with some from AutoLoc and Johnny Law Motors. Tomorrow I will finish and swap my interior lights with LED's.

Hey Neatbeard are the plates big and long or are they more like the states have these days, and do they have vanity plates? Welcome if you are new to the forums...Vernski:metal:

Replaced the glove box lock and striker, ignition tumbler, and door locks. Took a bit of grinding to get the door locks in and functioning properly. Also removed the shell.

It was yesterday, but I officially made this an "OFF FRAME" restoration.
Suspension has been done for a while now. Started in the back and worked forward. Gonna open up this 230 L6 and see if it's worth saving. Bad compression test. See more on my BLOG.

I worked on the yard most of the day...BUT, I had to see if the truck would start after sitting for over 24 hrs (been having battery drain issues). Started right up! Still nervous though...

Why not grab a multimeter and source the parasitic drain?

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Just a suggestion: I had a drain issue and it turned out to be a bad diode in the alternator.

It's supposed to be very common on GM alternators.

It's sort of a long story, but I've been working on it slowly when I have time. The next step will be to check for which circuit is drawing amps on the battery by using the meter and pulling fuses.:waah:

Thanks, and I was thinking the same thing. I just went to an internally regulated alternator and so far so good. I still have a feeling I'll be pulling out the meter and finding the current draw though.

In my opinion best and easiest way to test the diode block while the alternator is still on the engine is to do an AC ripple test with a digital multimeter. Just start up the car, turn on the headlights to remove surface charge off the battery. This will force the alternator to switch on. Next set the meter to AC Volts. With the engine running put the positive lead of the meter to the "BAT" terminal on the alternator and hold it there. Then place the negative meter lead onto the negative post on the battery. If you get a meter reading of more than 1.5 Volts AC (1 1/2 Volts AC) the diode block in the alternator is bad and needs replaced. Its a real simple test that only takes a few seconds to perform. Hope this helps!

Last night after work I got to put some PlastiKote Rust converter on a few of the many rust spots on Ole Brownie. The stuff works pretty good! I think I'm gonna need about a gallon of it!

Tonight I finished welding up the plates for my rear cab mounts that cracked, stupid body lift the truck came with, all good and overbuilt now. Time to try out the newly built big block tomorrow.

Decided a while ago i wanted some kind of tool box in my truck for storage, but the alluminum ones look out of place. Long story short i desided to make a wood box that matches the bed kinda, and got everything for free so far after trading a bunch of oak wood i had lying around for 2x8's and all the rest was just lying around my buddies garage...

Pics 1&2. Buddy griding off the extra long bolts on the angle iron for the box sides and the box

Pic 3. Mounted fishing rod holders and the spare tire to the sides of the box

Pic 4&5. Then finally installed the Awsome marine antenna (the fiberglass housing was cracked and broken, but i just hacksawed the bad stuff off and threw it back together) and the complete box!

Put an inline fuse in the electric fan thermostat sending unit, it blew the fuse in the panel and baffled my tiny brain why the fan would not come on. Drove Toad for the first time in 6 weeks. Went over yonder and did burnouts.
I remembered why I like my pickemup truck. Sound of real V8 and the smell or burning rubber. :metal:
