i would lift it, bigger the better, but thats me. i would also go srw, cheaper & easier(4 tires) to lift. i would'nt shorten the box, you bought it cause your subconscious liked the bigness, why make it smaller, & if you haul, you'll appreciate the extra length

Keep it dually

I believe i saw a late 70s style sc drw with a orange and white paint. That sat on white 22.5 steel semi wheels but cant find it. I was wondering if anyone could call claim to the pic and let me know about what page its on. Im curious if they turned down the wheels to fit 22s like they do with aluminum wheels. Thanks for any help.

You cannot mill steel wheels like aluminum ones as there's not enough material there. Guys have stretched the 22" tires over the 22.5" steel wheels though. It's not safe & should not be done as the tire is compromised.

If anyone is searching for a sweet rig around the Bay Area, this is worth a little drive... Looks like a bad ass truck almost complete.

Thanks. Thats what i was thinking as well. Thats why i was so unsure of what this guy did. Maybe they welded different center and rings together to get what they wanted. But it seems like the centers were the old steel 4 hole 10 lug like off a school bus or that style anyways.

Talk about unsafe- I see so many trucks using Spacers, Adapters and washers used to mount wheels. Does anyone other than a Hyper 17 year old think that ALL of these ways are safe?

I have seen 22.5 wheels on several Ford and Chevy Trucks. The ride is Very hard. I have 20"s on one of my trucks and was thinking of switching tires from Real Truck tires to LT Truck tires. Much softer and flexable. I have not tried it yet and am not hauling weight anyway.
Real Truck tires like 20's or 22.5 will stand up on their own without air they are so tough.

I'm a machinist with a die builder background, so machining a set of wheel adaptors isn't a big deal to me but the hole mounting/ balancing/ truing big rig wheels and tires is something I've never messed with. I wont be hauling either, my plan it to build a couple trucks just to promote my business at car shows

You could probably sell it on here if you become a supporting member, there's some people on here that like those.
