Be aware that Bilstein has HD #'s and those are the ones you'll be wanting .
The Sock Warehouse is so far , the best place to get them price wise , always in stock too . Plus , they're connected to an outfit that sells brake shoes super cheaply , no core charge , riveted typ if you want . |

WOW! Looks like rincones and 67cheby did some positive work on their beds/wells. I went the other way, didn't want to replace the bed floor and wheel wells so I figured it would be much more fun to do a spray on bedliner instead. Don't want to fix the dents? Cover them up! :lol:

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Drove it to work today, hit the brakes real hard to not hit a deer, missed the deer but the pin holding the right front caliper broke, caliper slid up wedged into rim and broke the brake caliper mount. Now I'm searching like crazy for one and cannot find, its a 72 k10 with d44 front axle, anybody know where I can find a right front caliper mount, cause around me isn't an option...

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Parked mine in the barn and started the converison to disc brakes :) The poor drum brakes... Hauling loads of 400 lbs was getting scarey. I know its limits but thinking about some winged car whipping out in front of me and stomping on the brakes is was the real scary part.
I will do a build up on the converison and post it when I am when I got some free time. Nothing crazy but it's a little different than your standard buy a kit install. #1 difference is I researched where all the parts were made and found almost everything made in America to replace my old parts... Even the rotors, which almost no one pours rotors in the states any more. The rotors are from early classic. Stock ball joints and 6 lug (which I wouldnt want to change) Brand new cross shafts, pitman arm, idler arm, u-bolts for cross shafts/a-arms, tie rod ends, disc brake spindles, wilwood 2 piston calipers, rebuilt steering box and misc small parts. The 2 piston calipers are direct upgrades for the stock calipers so I dont even have to fab up a bracket. |
Re: What did you do to your truck today!
It will be nothing but better for braking. I did an upgrade to front disc on a 68 Mustang, what a completely different car, went with SSBC parts. No more vearing left into traffic when braking and nice pedal too.

The usual ;
Tanked it up & checked the oil , rolled out for a whole day's worth of parts chasing for other vehicles :chevy: . Two full tanks of gas , lots of old men giving me thumbs up . I scored a three main bearing 1800 engine from a '63 MGB for $150 ! SWEET . |
Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Rome wasn't built in a day but as such I have my yearly "projects" and then my minor work that I do throughout the year and then I thank my lucky stars that my wife supports my oldest girl as she really is kind of high maintenance.
I rebuilt my SM465. I replaced my 14 bolt SF rear with a 14 bolt FF and finally got the parking brake working. I had the ceiling over the visors replaced with a new windshield and the body shop burned and hacked my roof light wiring to death so I had to rewire it. I corrected and rebuilt my z-bar and clutch linkages. I changed out the turn signal switch, when I saw on another post that shops were asking ~$175 to do that I am glad I did it myself. Today, my goal is to find and get new conversion joints, a bunch of ground straps and new firemen's hats. It's raining, let's see how far I get. |
Re: What did you do to your truck today!
So is the rear window going to slide up and down, just looking at previous pictures.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Installed new glass rubbers, rebuilt latch assemblies, welded up old cb mount holes and sat back and enjoyed the fact my step side is alllll most complete! Oh and argued with an old guy on how I'm ruining "007" of the line by having a rear roll pan lol

Installed control arm bushings and ball joints. I bead blasted the parts and sprayed with rattle can rust-o-leum then baked in an oven. Turned out better than I expected and is fairly durable. Little bit at a time.
