Here is an update. Took Elie on a road trip last weekend. Got the bed cover on a few weeks ago. Run 80 mph with ease and got 18 mpg.

You got some cool new pics! Truck is looking good, & it sounds like it's running good too.

Do you have pics of the COE? ??

It's in peices. Some metal work done to the floor, steering column and brake pedal mocked up. Have a 94 Chevy 1ton for it to go on. Going to make a driver NOT a car hauler like everyone else. Use it to pull my car hauler around.

That is one tough looking COE...

WOW !!!! I'm jealous! Love the build.
What headlight switch did you use? I'm in the middle of a similar build. A 58 chevy short bed on a 92 roadmaster frame, I'll be using a 89 fleetside bed for now looking for a deal on a correct fleetside bed, but so hard to find. did you get your cruise fixed yet? Here is mine...

Thanks, love driving it!!! I used the caprice switch and tucked it under the dash. I am stumped on the cruise. I was messing with it yesterday. Still think it's a ground issue in the brake light circuit. But I put bulbs in all the holes and it doesn't work. Could be the cruise box. Guess I'll pick one up at the salvage yard and try it.

Wow, your truck turned out sweet! It's been a while since I checked on your progress. It's nice to see you driving it and enjoying it. That COE is pretty nice and looks rust free. The Coronet will be a blast too!

The B body sedan harness requires working bulbs in the third brake light (CHMSL) location in order to function.

Had a buddy in high school that had a 66 coronet, back when I had my old 69 chevelle ss. We spent a lot of time cruising around in those two cars......sure brings back memories.

Always been a fan of mid 60's - early 70's mopar

I put working light bulbs in all the old sockets and its still not working. I wish I could find out exactly what voltage the ckt 17 (brake light curcuit) is looking for so I could just mimic it and be done. But can not find any details. I will find a working caprice with cruise and see if I can take some voltage measurements..

Did you ever consider z-notching the front portion of the Caprice frame to get a little more drop. That may have taken up some of the gap in the engine bay, but also could have caused other issues. Your thoughts, pros & cons, as we are doing the same conversion.

Re: 1964 Caprick-up = (C10+SWB)*(94 Caprice 9C1+LT1)

Definitely would not have z-notched it.. I did consider moving the drivetrain back and bringing it up 2 inches or so. But I didn't want to shorten the driveshaft and rebuild all the mounts.. If I was going to go to that kind of trouble I would have just transplanted the drivetrain into a factory frame…

The main reason why I ask is because we want to be as low as possible. I'm not sure if installing an air ride kit for the Caprice will do it or not.

I'm pretty sure I could lay the frame on the ground. The top a-arms sit on top of the frame, unlike trucks, so you should be able to get it really low as long as you tub the front inner fenders.

I'm hoping we can find some kind of middle ground with the right wheel and tire combo along with bags that will minimize clearance issues up front. But, I know we are blazing a trail for the most part. I'd love to try and retain the Caprice heating and cooling system but you mentioned in your thread that it didn't look too hopeful.

Unused everything under the hood and bought a universal inside AC/heat unit. Worked out great. Had to use the captice hose ends and had to have custom hoses made.

The wheels do sit in a little on mine. But no doubt I could drop mine another 2-3 inches and still drive it.

Any pictures of the coronet?
