Wow it's kinda quiet around here lately.....your not giving up on me are you all ?...lol

Okay so managed to get the fenders done and put the truck down...we had bars welded where the bags go so we could move it around easy and work on it . We got the bright idea to cut the bars out and lower to the bagged out point. I have no idea what happens when someone blows a line or gets a leak....It took forever to get the jacks out from underneath it what a pain...lol....anyhow

I wish there was more room in the shop to get back to take a better picture.....but it's jammed in pretty good right now......still more to do trying to decide what i want to do just with the front bumper.

Re: 1966 SBBW pro street

I am thinking about loosing the front bumper bolts and welding them from the back....When i stretched the front valance down a inch.....and then lowered the front bumper a inch...well now the fenders look too short so i will have to add a inch to them as well ...and now that the fender opening has shifted 2" the bumper needs to wrap around the fender a extra 2 "....I wanted to make a few subtle changes but keep the original type look i hope that by refitting it ....people might have to try and figure whats changed but not really know whats changed if that makes sense....lol

Truck is looking pretty good... I thought it was in paint???

Re: 1966 SBBW pro street

Nope....no paint yet but i am trying to pick colors...I finished 2 other trucks in between that were painted but not this one. But it is back at the body shop now and it shouldn't be too long before things get moving on it.

Cool pics. If I ever find time to work on mine, I will take some photos too.
I can hardly wait to get mine on the track to find out what it will do.

Can't believe i sold all of my done trucks.....what was i thinking ?
It's wierd i am surrounded in truck parts and engines and nothing is together and running. I might have to go back to the field of dreams and fire up one of the spares and get some wheel time. It won't be pretty ...lol...but something has got to run...

Re: 1966 SBBW pro street

So i had 4 front bumpers on the truck yesturday.....each one is differnt in size and fit in width and length. I had original painted, original chrome .....aftermarket painted ....aftermarket chrome....What a pain in the a@@..So it looks like i have to extend the bumper as it heads back towards the fenders . It also looks like i am going to split the bumper length wise and make it about 1/2 or 3/4" thicker/wider. When i made the front valance 1" wider/deeper i think it sticks out to much and want to cover it a bit more with bumper.

Re: 1966 SBBW pro street

So if I understand things, the bumper is too low and out too far?? If you widen the bumper it will start looking like a cow pusher, new trucks pull off that large bumper look. I think you'll have to tack it all and step back to evaluate it. Better picture angle may get more opinions. My opinion for bumpers is tighter to the body and narrow the width make them look better. You want a stock look so a Camaro or Impala bumper is not an option??

Good luck with it, the fenders look awesome, and it looks like you'll have to sacrifice a bumper to find out what looks right. Just don't settle, keep trimming and moving till it looks right, and keep us posted of course.

PS- that hood mod looks incredible, you've been holding back on the updates.

Ya i think what will happen is i am going to add a 1/2" to the top of the bumper....and i just cut it width wise to see what it looks like. Once i see it i will know if i like it or not......but i do want a stock look to it. Ya I admit it have been holding back on the hood a little because it's not finished and didn't want to get into that until it was all figured out. By the way your the only guy that noticed so far......i thought i was going to get away with that for awhile longer.....lol

Keen eyes I guess, its very clean, I like these builds that have metal work, the re-engineering is interesting. Superfly sold his so yours will be the first finished. Stay the course and good luck with the bumper, you'll make it work.
