Re: Project - '69 4x4 named "Patches"
Dam your truck looks awesome. Seems like skills and nice trucks are just natural in your neighborhood with you and Alan living there.

Well the cat's outta the bag now. Yes it's true, I finally started getting some work done this weekend. The first thing I did was to get rid of the old cab. This thing had been a yard ornament for quite some time now. http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...IMG_0831-1.jpg Here it is 30 minutes later..... http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/IMG_0835.jpg Now it's time to get started on the new cab.:metal: Back before I had the cab blasted I removed the cowl and found some rot around the fresh air vents. After it came back from the blaster we could really tell how much damage we had to repair. This area is notorious for collecting leaves and debris. There wasn't much left of the metal that the cowl was spot welded to so I went ahead and removed it. http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...IMG_0836-1.jpg http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/IMG_0838.jpg Next to go was the a-pillar. http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/IMG_0840.jpg Fitting up the floor pan. http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/IMG_0845.jpg Here's the master mulling it over. http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...IMG_0846-1.jpg For the most part the cab is in really good shape, except for the cowl area and the driver's side cab support. Here I am drilling out what seemed to be 100 spot welds, but there were only 24 or so. (Thanks for the action shot Alan.) http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/IMG_0850.jpg Out with the old and in with the new. Well almost. This is where I stopped for the day. http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/IMG_0851.jpg Stay tuned. It should start getting real fun now.;) |

Re: Project - '69 4x4 named "Patches"
Took a little break during the 4th, but we finally jumped back in last night and picked up where we left off.
I finished cutting off the inner rocker and out floor area. http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/IMG_0856.jpg http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/IMG_0857.jpg Test fit the new pieces. http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...IMG_0859-1.jpg Mocked up the outer rocker. At this point I had a pretty big smile on my face. I know I have a long way to go still, but this give me a big boost of motivation. I was ready to hang some doors and shoot some paint. http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...IMG_0860-1.jpg Mocking up the kick panel and "a" pillar http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/IMG_0861.jpg http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/IMG_0863.jpg The area around the fresh air vent was rusted and pitted pretty good, so I cut that piece out as well. http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/IMG_0867.jpg Cutting out the replacement piece for the kick panel area. http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...IMG_0868-1.jpg At this point it was 11:30 so we called it a night. We only worked about 4 hours, but I'm pretty happy with the progress that we made. Stay tuned... |
Re: Project - '69 4x4 named "Patches"
i like the pink :haha:
but really its looking good |
Re: Project - '69 4x4 named "Patches"
That looks like a better way to fix the kick panel area than what I did...
|
Re: Project - '69 4x4 named "Patches"
Nice work Shannon! Glad to see some of us are making progress...Gotta love those patch panels. Curious to see if you have any issues where the front of the rocker meets up with 'A' post-- that curved area that runs up the 'A' post on the inner kick panel
Your rolling chassis came out really nice I like the way the clamps are painted orange, no mistaken who owns them |
Re: Project - '69 4x4 named "Patches"
I got to spend a little time on the truck again last night.:metal:
We got the kick panel patch cleaned up and Alan made the new flange bends. http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/IMG_0872.jpg The next area of concern was about half way up the "a" pillar where there was some pitting and rust. The bad piece was removed and Alan went to town fabbing up a new piece. http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/IMG_0875.jpg http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...IMG_0876-1.jpg Alan making it happen. http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...IMG_0877-1.jpg The new piece. http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/IMG_0880.jpg And it fits......:metal: http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...IMG_0882-1.jpg The new kick panel patch was installed next. http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/IMG_0883.jpg http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/IMG_0885.jpg We called it a night shortly after this. Stay tuned we're on a roll now. |
Re: Project - '69 4x4 named "Patches"

Re: Project - '69 4x4 named "Patches"
