here is the SPID what do you all think? |
Re: Suburban and panel finds
Was a really well optioned truck when New
|
Re: Suburban and panel finds
I think that 90% of these trucks fall into 3 categories:
Under $5k: Major mechanical or cosmetic troubles that will require significant investment of attention/dollars to correct. Under $10k: Minor mechanical or cosmetic troubles that will require some investment of attention/dollars to correct. Older restorations may fall in this category. Under $15k: Unmolested, well cared for, original drivers, newer restorations, or highly modified personal builds. Based on this personal rating scale, I'd say the truck you're looking at falls somewhere in the under $10k category. $11.5k is an asking price, but probably not a receiving price! |

If it's a solid 4x4 K20 with good options you better buy it. What you seek is very hard to find in any condition and only going north in value If you decide not to buy it how about pm the contact info :metal::metal: |
Re: Suburban and panel finds
Maybe I’m confused about this one in Portland. Didn’t it have rust in all the lower panels?

there is rust, floorboard spots, normal stuff, but not too bad. worst rust bit was cut out by his friend that does body work, the friend passed away before he could finish.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZTmDMjGalI some damage to the tight tilt colulm.. wonder if that part is available? the shift lever pulls right out. temp, gas level, and oil pressure have separate gauges, dash gauges not working. some wiring issues needs paint, very soon. drip rails rusting but not bad someone upgraded the rear diff.. dana 44 up front ,, 14 bolt on rear. Ac compressor removed, but most of the other parts are still there. |
Re: Suburban and panel finds
IMO it's a 7-8k burb. What I've found is 80% are 2wd and most of the 4wd's are 1/2 ton
so if you really want a K20 you'll have to patient and persistent and be ready to buy when the right one pops up.Don't drag your feet at all. |

I am ready and have been for a couple years now to buy. Money just sitting in an account waiting. The issue is they just do not come up often! |
Re: Suburban and panel finds
I have a 72 K-20 project burb, that's been converted to half ton. My friend bought it many years ago as a driving project. He disassembled it, sold some of the parts off because he was going to do some "upgrades". He told me way back then I could have the 3/4 ton axels. I said sure, but they sat, and sat. Finally he said if you don't want these I have someone else that will take them ... Ok that's cool give them to someone else. I just didn't feel like dragging those heavy A things home lol.
Fast forward a bunch of years and now that project is mine ... Really wising I had those axels now lol. |

Re: Suburban and panel finds
not sure.. they have all the seasons including snow so might have some issues common in other areas..
the holes in the gold '70 leads me to believe there may be a lot on the inner surface of the body panels.. so many transplanted trucks, various care and storage, etc. that it's getting difficult to follow patterns.. |

Re: Suburban and panel finds
I live in Reno. We used to use sand exclusively. My old econoline was my daily driver for 12 years. About 5 years ago, they started with the pre snow brine solution. The rust is now in full bloom. It sucks

First showed up last year in March at $15000 now $8000. Hard to argue about the current pricing.
https://seattle.craigslist.org/est/c...451092814.html 1968 Chevy "Panel" Truck is factory built on the Suburban line. It is the last of the true panel trucks. One of 4,800 built in 1968. The truck is in great condition and ready to go. Recently had lots of work done to it by professionals. I have receipts, listing the work completed. Runs and drives great. V8 - 305/700R4 backed up by a GM 12bolt. Power disc brakes up front, drums in the rear, Power steering, brand-new headers and exhaust, the rear differential has been overhauled with new bearings, seals and in excellent mechanical working order. The paint is decent, very little areas of rust bubbles on the truck, has no signs of cancer or needing any major repair. Interior is black vinyl (also has lots of new original items installed). CD player, back seat, and wood floor behind the rear bench (in decent shape). Everything looks correct and works on this truck. Interior lights work, windows work (manual crank), and all the locks work. |

At $8,000 I don't think the panel will take long to sell.
|
Re: Suburban and panel finds
The yellow panel has been for sale for quite awhile. Looks much better in pictures.
"very little areas of rust bubbles on the truck, has no signs of cancer" Weird I though rust bubbling and cancer was the same thing? If someone is really really wanting a panel though it might be a good starting point if you can get the price down some. Heck I'm way over that much in my panel and its just a shell, that's why Ill most likely have it forever haha. |
