Alright here's the new toy: A '67 C15 with the 305 V-6.
http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d...s/IMAGE001.jpg

My plan is to resto-mod it out. Restore the body to stock, rebuild the engine as stock internals with the following mods: Mallory Ignition and Holley Projection TBI. Trade the trans to an NV3500 or 5600, add positraction, and 4 wheel discs instead of drums, If I can find a kit that will let me keep the 15's. Add Hydraboost and call it good.

I also changed the headers and had them cut a hole in the crossmember to keep the single 3inch exhaust tucked up. Need to remove gas cap (fuel tank/cap in bed), antenna, maybe sidemarkers too & 1 piece windows (or replace vent window rubber as a lot of windnoise). Paint is faded and needs to be redone, thinking of another color. Pretty much all cosmetic stuff now.

Man that looks almost exactly like my first truck I had in high school.. sold it when i went to college.. I thought that was it till I saw the interior.. The good thing is that I have always regretted selling it and last week I just bought another 68 swb and starting to tear it down in the garage.

Now that's a cool tow rig!

Depending on what you're going to tow with it, I would think you would want bigger than a 5.3, maybe even a diesel.

Re: Post Your Ride 67-72 Trucks

I have a 385HP and 460FPT 5.3 ready to go in as we speak. The truck has a tired 350 with 210 HP 23 years ago in it now. I have towed a 28 foot trailer with car that weighed 9500 with it already....anything is better than what is in it now. I am looking to do the swap for less than $2000 total and am well on my way to that goal as we speak.

Excellent. :metal:

Other than the 5.3, what are you having to take with it? Transmission? Computer? Wiring harness?

:chevy:

woodman13 03-25-2008 06:49 AM

Re: Post Your Ride 67-72 Trucks

I am using the complete 5.3, harness, computer, trans, radiator(I hope I have not measured it yet) and it all came from the same truck. The headers, TB and intake came from a previous build I did and saved the parts. The cam is the only part I bought new so far. It is a custom grind torque monster from an LS guy locally.

Re: Post Your Ride 67-72 Trucks

I just bought this over the weekend for a Ben Franklin. Theres not much rust other than the rocker panels. My plans for it are as follows: 5.3FI conversion, 4-6 drop or something close, 5lug conversion, 20-22's and of course a real bed. I just finished a Jeep Cherokee build but I am lost on this stuff, any guidance will be much appreciated.
