Mine was a regular at Huntington and Corona del Mar. Used to pick up hitch hikers going that way down Hwy 39 to collect gas/beer money (.25/gallon) 1.00 Falflat.

Well it’s my truck doing what I bought it for back in 1975. With the big block Olds it towed the heck out of that boat.:metal:

john: I understand the tow thing. I towed a 19' Sanger flat bottom v drive with my '49 with a 327 & 4 spd. People couldn't believe I could pull Altimont pass at 70+

I blew up the Olds in 1979 and replace it with a 327 Turbo 400. That’s the engine that I still have in it, just replaced the transmission. Towed that 1960 Raysoncraft flat bottom just fine. Wow you got a good deal on your truck in 1973, mine was $400 in 1975, prices were going up!

This is my Dads stake bed truck I remember riding around with him as a kid. He sold it before I could drive, but if he hadn’t I’d probably would have used that tow with.:metal:

I think the driver may be a bit too small to reach the pedals

I'm pretty sure that's the ladder I loaned to Hugh. Never did get that back.

I know this is SUPPOSED to be "vintage" photos only....but hey, since it's my thread I figure I can violate my own idea once in awhile!;)

Found this survivor still working it's ass off as an ordinary daily driven truck at Lowe's today. Up close you can see it was originally dark green. Lots of surface dings with rust on them but all in all, no rust on the headlight or cab brows. Cab corners are the only places showing cancer evidence but not terribly.
Interior is complete, dash still uncut. Would make a great starter for one of us if it were for sale. Never saw the driver.

Anyway, thought you guys would like seeing it.

There are a few threads around with cool photos. H.A.M.B. has one with a _ton_ of excellent photos.

I enjoy searching for unique photos. I use Google Images to look for photos of towns and cities, of types of work, of streets and construction scenes from 1944 to 1964. I also look at old postcards on Ebay and I look through historical society collections. Folks were proud of progress after WWII and there are a lot of fun pictures out there. One in ten might have a TF truck and one in five is interesting enough to post.

Here's a promising search: Detroit 1954

A really fun place to find old pics of cars is on https://www.imcdb.org/ - the Internet Movie Cars Database. You can search any make and year of vehicle and get a comprehensive listing and photos of every movie in which that type of vehicle has appeared.

Taken exactly 1 year ago on the banks of the Rogue at the 4th Fireworks Gold Beach. Will be there again tonight. Next year will be on the Siuslaw across from Florence at the river cabin.
