Re: Loadmaster '47 COE
Way cool...congrat's!

Re: Loadmaster '47 COE
I also think it looks cool!
Did you hook up the wire that tells the ECM that the A/C is on? I didn't, yet, and mine pulls the engine down when I kick it on. |
Re: Loadmaster '47 COE
Excellent! I'm glad to hear it's working well. That is the unit I want to put in my 51. I was curious about the fit, I see you offset it a little to the passenger side to clear the cowl vent handle. I thought that might work, looks like you bent the right hand bracket a bit to fit the curve of the bottom of the dash in that area. Looks good!

Re: Loadmaster '47 COE
Thank all,
Good eye Gary, you are correct on both accounts. Bluejeep, I do use the ECM to turn on the cooling fans but I do not tell the ECM the AC is on. For any load or change in idle it puts on the engine the engine recovers very fast, I don't notice any real change. I do notice a minor loss in power with the AC on but that was expected. Rob |
Re: Loadmaster '47 COE
Sweet job I don't have room for ac :(

Re: Loadmaster '47 COE
OK, so I got back on the engine cover deal. Decided to go ahead and use the old shipping box. First I cut it about in half then cut it in the rear for engine cover clearance. I mounted it using just some angle iron I had laying around. Turned out looking better then just the engine cover. Should also make a good little seat. Also picked up a new toy up at the Pigeon Forge show.

Re: Loadmaster '47 COE
Looking good.
That's a lot of wood on top of the engine and I can't remember if you covered it before, but any concern about heat or do you get enough flow from underneath? |
Re: Loadmaster '47 COE
Engine cover looks great and I love the toy truck .

Re: Loadmaster '47 COE
Very Nice :metal:

Re: Loadmaster '47 COE
I took about a 4 hour drive today and I think I'm OK as far as the heat issue is concerned. I felt the cover during gas and food stops and could feel no increase in temp. There is a lot of room for air to move around under the truck. My theory is the box builds a small amount of air pressure inside which allows the hotter new air to push past.....of course I just made that crap up, so take it for what it's worth, LOL. I had this cover on for about 40K miles. Took a look at the odmeter today and just tipped over 47K. Dang they add up fast!

Re: Loadmaster '47 COE
Cool plan!
|
Re: Loadmaster '47 COE
that will be killer, be cool to make it removable.
|
Re: Loadmaster '47 COE
So you are looking for a 1957 Shasta trailer and removing the tong and axle !!
|
Re: Loadmaster '47 COE
No Solid, actually I just sold my '69 Frolic 12 footer. I had photoshopped it on the back of the COE but just didn't get a warm fuzzy feeling with the look. This will be removable and be basically just be for long road trips. Not a lot of extras inside, just a bed, small fridge, AC, heater, a small desk and chair and a few cabinets.

Thanks for posting the pictures of your ac installation. Seeing how your dash unit fit encouraged me to go ahead and buy one. I'm happy with the way it looks and look forward to riding next summer in comfort!

Re: Loadmaster '47 COE
Your welcome Katrina, very happy with mine. Output is great at 40 degrees. Only issue is it will put a chill on the right nee. Not a bad problem to have. You using a aftermarket compressor or factory?

Re: Loadmaster '47 COE

I had these R4 brackets that would fit my engine, so I bought a new compressor and used them. It was 80 degrees here yesterday, so I went for a ride with the air on, and it seemed to work well. I definitely got the cold right knee!

Re: Loadmaster '47 COE
That camper will be awesome.

Re: Loadmaster '47 COE
Rob in your post #153 (I think) it shows the schematic for your linear actuator shifter. How are you doing with this? Is it still working good? I take it the little green board is the thing you got from Firgelli?
|
Re: Loadmaster '47 COE
Yes and no, the smaller actuator from Firgelli was not up to the task, that being said I went with a actuator I got off E-bay for under $50, to power this I just a momentary DTDT toggel switch. I use a signal from the transmission position switch to light lights to tell me what gear I'm in. It's been working good now for over 50K miles. Re: Loadmaster '47 COE
OK, working the next evolution of the truck. If you have followed my thread you know I've been planning on building a slide on tear drop style camper for future road trips. This required a couple of changes to the bed area. I had to relocate the fuel filler to the side, kinda hard to fill with a camper covering the gas cap, I also decided to remove the wood on the bed, the wood was warping and the bolts there slightly above the bed floor. Around 90 bolts later the wood was off. I had 3 sheets of 11 ga. cut to size. I will need cut an opening for engine access and build a removable cover. I completed the rear section today and painted it with Rustoleum and a house paint roller. Kinda hard to see but there are over 50 spot welds under the paint.
