I would'nt know about 95 I never go anywhere, but you could be on the wrong coast. Can't wait for the trip be sure to take pictures as you go. It seems like the bumper is to round for the back. It needs to be flatter in the middle. I've seen a lot of trucks with no bumper. I think thats the way they came. Different part numbers at Classic parts, the front one is $10 cheaper. I might swap it for the one I have. It's nice except for about a quarter size spot were the chrome came off.

Dave; perhaps you can get some inspiration from this beauty, seeing that you have been sort of quiet lately. bottom of the page

Hay I've been busy walking around my truck. Lots of thinking and stuff going on. I have been getting some things done. Lack of cash, knowledge and skill seem to have no effect on me.:smoke::smoke::lol: Whatever. Pictures to come.:exit:

Thanks Dennis I really want to drive this thing. I figure if I get it running it will get me moving alittle faster. Just seems like even the small things take forever. Hope everything is going good on your end.;)

Yup keeping busy, but not on my truck. I'm almost done with that 73 Ford F-250, and got it running. So I rearranged the shop to get back on the 57 sedan delivery. Now I have more room to work on the 65. :metal:

some of those lines are plastic air brake line with braded stainless covering.

daverod,

truck is coming along great. luv the yard art too. very inspiring. Also not sure if you just plopped your distributor in but the vac advance usually points toward cylinder #2 so it wouldn't be back towards your firewall, would give more clearance back there too. Can't wait to see this on the road.

:mm: Not a good start. Note to self "Your eyes suck". Hooked some wires wrong ,replaced a 3 amp with a 5 amp. $10 in fuses later; blown ecu for my Accuair system.:waah: And its only 9:30.:smoke: New one coming. Some lessons are hard learned. oh and I forgot I needed headlight retainer rings so got them coming also. Headlights are plastic. I mean "light weight". Sucks to be me. Not that I'm *****in or complainin.

Re: Daverods 52

Least they did'nt charge me much. I guess they get their money the first go around. Good company and good people. Now if I could just get my headlights to work. I ran out of fuses so I guess pennies will work.:lol::smoke: I wonder how much more tuition I will have to pay to get this thing running.

wouldn't even stress those little things. Its a great project and it will all come together. Heck, I blew up and engine before I even got my truck on the road. what a nightmare. luuuuv the patina on your truck too.

I think that will be tomorrows project. I'm thinking just a piece of angle with a couple of holes in it. I'm sure there will be more to it.:uhmk:

Great looking truck!!! Do your headlights fit the original buckets and rings? I would like to use the same ones if they fit and work good. Thanks

:mm: Lights fit right in. I used some retaining rings from my 66. I did'nt get the rubber seal that goes between the retainer and the trim. Took awhile to figurea out how the clips went. Did the light relay thang.:smoke: I need a lift mt knees hurt.:waah:

I was kinda surprised that they were plastic but I guess they'll work. I still need top swap my park lights to 12 volt. I see that there's a 12 volt turn/park bulb upgrade. Need to get some tail lights now.:uhmk:$$ Got my new ECU for mt air system. Maybe I'll be brave enough to mess with that today. Wish I could buy just one or two grill bars.

Re: Daverods 52

If you can find a bigger truck that has a good grill maybe you could buy it, the bars themselves interchange. The upright grill support bars don't (taller on the big trucks) but the grill bars are the same between all sizes of trucks. I know this because I have a 2 ton grill bars on my 50.

Re: Daverods 52

Did make some progress on the wiring. Just about done. I really know how to run a test light now. The new LED flasher I had to buy for the new led headlights was a big pain. It kept turning off my signials and parklights when I turned on my headlights. I just used the one that came with the harness. :sumo:

Re: Daverods 52

Trying to get everything air tight. Broke a airhose, a fitting, pinched a front airhose. Ordered new hoses and a fitting. One of the new hoses is blocked. What a pain. Ordered 2 new hoses, one for a back up. Used pipedope when I redid all the fittings seemed to work much better than tape.:mm:

99 to Life 06-06-2012 10:00 AM

Re: Daverods 52

good call on the pipe dope. good call on the extra hoses. I love having extras of things. I try and have double alot of tools even. But I have two living locations so it is nice to have that. Can't wait to see some test runs man.

Re: Daverods 52

Ya kinda getting excited. I can see a small light. Still need a few things.
Plug wires- need 90 at both ends. See if I can make something
Rad. hoses- lower one is going to be a pain.
Rad. outlet on bottom cut and moved down.
fitting for gas line.
trans lines
brakelines
and the list goes on.:lol::smoke:

Re: Daverods 52

Spare parts are good, when I go to the boonies I have a box with spare alt, starter, fuel pump and dist. Also duct tape, wire (bailing and electrical) JB weld, clamps, lots of tools. In 40 years have only had four incidents, brake pad failure (clamped the line), electical wiring from the switch to the starter and coil shorted out (used tail light wire to patch it up to get home), dumped a battery, had to use stream water luckily it recharged enough to get started and had to replace a fuel pump when i starved out on a hill and broke the diaphram.

For the rad hoses make a mock up with a hanger or welding rod and take it to the store. If the counter guy is sharp you will walk out with something close.

daverod 06-06-2012 02:25 PM

Re: Daverods 52

I'll have to remember those fixes. Someone said their fuel pump went out so they took a coffie can of gas and ran a hose to the bottom of it. He had the wife hold the can out her side window and they lived lhappliey ever after.:smoke:

99 to Life 06-07-2012 12:12 PM

Re: Daverods 52

dang 1 incident every 10 years aint bad. daverod. see if you can take your prebent wire in the back and look for something. Heck I see the parts guys soo much they know me, so it's usually ok to go in the back and look for stuff.

The rod is looking good. Looks like someone already called shotgun for the first ride.

What are you going with for rim/tire setup?

Right now I just have stock s10 rims and tires off my horse trailer.:lol:I still havent made up my mind on whitewalls and 8x15's. Or somthing like 20" smoothie centerlines. I know what I really want but what I can afford is a different thang.:smoke: Still need some spacers for the front. The rear is tight.1/4"
