Re: Bride of Young Frankenstein - 1957 Buick Super
Just finished the thread up to here. Finished reading Young Frankie last week. These have been inspiring me to work on my 71 Suburban 4x4. I rebuilt the transmission a few months ago and I'm rebuilding the engine now. As luck would have it, even with a previous engine rebuild, it is a numbers matching engine minus the cylinder heads.
Hopefully you find some time to finish this Buick up. |

Well....... the Buick is still as we left it before the move out to the farm last year. We are loving it out in the country on 155 acres, but there is so so much to do. No time for car projects unfortunately.
I did need a getaway car for my son's wedding though, and so I broke down and bought the Buick's kissing cousin. A 1958 Cadillac Coupe De Ville. This is the same main body stamping shared between Buick and Cadillac. Same roof, glass, a and b pillars, etc. From there its all different though. It was fully restored 6 years ago with over $36,000 spent. Rebuilt engine, new trans, new bodywork and paint, complete interior, etc. It was a sunday driver for one family from 1961 until January when I bought it. True 86,000 mile car, minor surface rust on undercarriage only. VERY NICE and all for just $21,000!!!! |
