Cool! That ride height looks good now.

Well, I finally found/bought an original woodgrain cluster bezel. I've had a saved search on eBay that emails me for ages and got a hit a bit ago.

It's coming from Canada and with shipping (which was more than the bezel) is costing $79 USD.

It isn't NOS but isn't in horrible shape either. It will match well with the overlay I put on my glovebox door. Also, after all this time looking for one, I have only really seen much worse.

Its not what I did to it as opposed to what I did with it. After being down for 18 months for a whole bunch of changes including a new rebuilt engine I started driving it last year in May and had a few bugs to work out which was done. So this year been driving it for 6/7 weeks now and last night with about 1300 miles on the new engine I drove the truck about 85 miles on the highway to my job, She ran like a champ. Pic is sitting at work last night.

Pulled my 46+ year old headers (unknown brand) and gave a thought of trying to patch them. I decided I would pass and get new ones. They did their time. Now to just wait for them to arrive.

Today I removed my drivers side door and top hinge for rebuild. The door opens and closes just fine, but the door check doesn't work at all. I rebuilt the passenger side hinges in 2017 because you had to lift the door to close it.

On Edit: I want to note that I realized the top plate inside the pillar was floating around and I captured it with a bolt so it didn't drop to the bottom when I removed the factory hinge bolts. I read other posters having that happen and glad to notice it.

Stumbled upon a 67 hubcap at an antique store. Hit it with chrome polish and quad zero steel wool and it came around.

Drove GMC about 50mi thru small towns, see what was shaking. Truck ran great, likes to cruise at 1900-2000 rpm.

Stripped several coats of old paint off the bed. Clean strip type disc on a buffer worked pretfy well. Will prime and block once the weather decides to cool off

Wrapped up the installation of a Kicker 10” hideaway under seat subwoofer. The previous owner cut the doors to make way for 2 6x9s in each door, all of which I upgraded recently. Sound on them is ok but not quite full enough so with the addition of the sub, it sounds a lot better. I still prefer that rumble of the MagnaFlows, but having a good sounding stereo is a bonus.

Purchased it from Crutchfield, sales rep Dwayne. Strong recommend if you’re ready to upgrade yours.

Inside door speakers will sound like crap if you don't insulate them. Crutchfield used to sell a styrofoam shield that you put on the back of the speaker to cut unwanted radiant metallic sibilance. Possibly the silvered Sound Control Matting might work too.

Everybody like to knock their PO for cutting holes in the doors, but I've had my C/10 Stepside since 6/1973, so I'm the guy who wanted a stereo in his truck. But I did go with single 5.5'' speakers because I thought the 6x9s cut away too much steel.

I know. Seems like my '71 GMC is the support truck for my ''new'' 2003 Tahoe.
