I don't have a good pic comparison, but the front bumper is different, 60-62, then 63-66, the main difference is in the bolt holes to the main frame rail, the earlier ones are closer together.

Re: 60-66 Model year changes
Shoot fire I didn't know that. My 62 has amber park lights. My dad had a 63 we used for parts. We probably switched them out and just forgot.
I agree with jchav62 This thread would make a good 'sticky'. Have all the info and specs fellas can go by. We need the Gu-Rus to unite on that one. You can buy books on this. I bought a book just on 60-66 factory build specs! Found out that the cab was not true and in spec. Quote:

Re: 60-66 Model year changes
No "back-up" lights on 63 (at least mine).
|
Re: 60-66 Model year changes
I think the backup lights were an option on all years 60-66.
|
Re: 60-66 Model year changes
My '61 has side glass steel window frames, whereas my '63 chevy and '63 GMC are frameless
Also IIRC '62-'63 GMC's had clear front signal lenses with glass amber bulb covers(inside the housing, behind the lens)and '64-'66 had amber lenses. T |
Re: 60-66 Model year changes
I believe the steel wrapped window glass was only on the custom trucks.
Here is a picture of a '60 GMC dash. The GMC dash was unchanged through out the 60-66 years with the exception of the instrument cluster 60-61 http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/e...C/jimmy003.jpg 62-66 http://www.6066gmcguy.org/DashStuff/1962-66-Dash.jpg |

Re: 60-66 Model year changes
I always thought reverse lights came out in '66. ???
|
Re: 60-66 Model year changes
Reverse lights were an option in '60-'65 and mandated by federal law, beginning in 1966 on trucks.
|
Re: 60-66 Model year changes
I see. That makes sense.

I believe 67 was seat belts.
|
Re: 60-66 Model year changes
Reverse lights and seat belts were part of the federally mandated changes in trucks in 1966.
|
Re: 60-66 Model year changes
Anyone know the capacity of the in cab fuel tank was in these trucks? I'm guessing 18-20?
|
Re: 60-66 Model year changes
18 gallon was standard,20 gallon was an option if memory serves me correct
|
Re: 60-66 Model year changes
18 gallon - standard and 21 gallon - optional...I believe, but I don't have my 4-5-6 Chevy truck bible with me, right now.
