Is the engine being set back more than usual, or is it just a height issue?

The engine may have slighty more setback than stock, but the issue is when you go this low all the suspension goes up in the frame, mounting the engine that much higher. Running 28 and 29 inch diameter tires doesn't help and that 8L90 tranny is huge. The steering rack is determining where the engine will sit. From where the engine sits now I could go forward or back an inch or 2.

Turned my big hump into a super hump. Needed the extra room for the 8L90 and driveline angles. Starting to make a firewall.

Wow, that exhaust is killer! Nice work!!

I love the idea, definitely haven't seen that before.. but won't the exhaust heat damage the chrome on the bumper?

It will not damage the chrome. I have done this before on a 57 Chevy where I had the exhaust come out where the optional backup lights are with no issues.

I used vintage air's condenser for a C10 as it fits inside the rad support to give more room for the radiator.

I have my 325/35/22 tires in place. They are pretty big at 31" tall. Pictured is the min clearance I could get away with, about 3/8". Should have a bit more maybe. I don't really like the way they look from the outside. To far in. Thinking I will cut the box side flange back, to bring the tire farther out. Anyone do this? I'm thinking I would cut back to 1/4" and weld some 1/4 x 1/2 FB along the seam to make up for lost strength. I could then move the tire out another 1" or so and end up with 1/2- 5/8" clearance

That's about spot on where mine is & I share the same concern of it being tucked too much. The issue w/trimming the inner bedside flange is you can't trim much (maybe .675?). Even @ that, I would want to reinforce it somehow. I am still contemplating possibilities....

What wheel widths did you ultimately purchase?

Front wheels are 9" with a 255/35/22. Turns lock to lock no issues at ride height (coil overs). Rears are 12" 325/35/22

Put it on the ground today and rolled it out. The rear tire looks better sitting on the ground.

Most of the fab. is done. Starting to take apart to paint. These are the nine pieces that make up my exhaust.

So this what I did for tire clearance. I cut 5/8" out and left 1/2". I then welded some 3/16" x 1/2" FB on top for added strength. By leaving the 1/2" I didn't cut through any spot welds. The braces then had to be lengthened and welded. Seems like a lot of work but if you have a large wheel and tire (31" tall) at this ride height you need all the room you can get.
