Re: Lost My 65
I just noticed in the pic above that you can see the FleetSide taillights in the StepSide fenders. I thought they really looked nice.

Re: Lost My 65
I still haven't found my ol' 65. :(

Re: Lost My 65
If you produced paperwork that proved you owned the truck at one point, could they state/county give you a name and address to contact the current owner? Then send the guy a letter.

Re: Lost My 65
I had the same issue finding my 76 Camaro rs.
I had the VIN number and the old plate number, but the DMV refused to help me. Something about the information being dangerous. What I ended up doing was I hired a Private Investigator, make sure you get one that is both bonded and insured with a license. They can get access to the current owner's address name and phone number. Unfortunately I found out my car had been wrecked two years after I sold it. But he did give me the name of the owner and where it was crashed, a copy of the accident report and everything. Its a real shame but hopefully you'll get better news. |
Re: Lost My 65
Sounds like you should hit all the local car shows and cruise nights. Look under every truck you come accross. Can't be too many 65's with torsion bar chassis' under them. That'll identify it for shure. Start cruising neighborhoods too. You might have to become a "stalker" of sorts.
Good Luck with your quest..... |
Re: Lost My 65
Sorry to hear about your loss, I still cry myself to sleep over stupidly selling my 69 C10 396 With a T5......sob...sob...sob :..(

Re: Lost My 65
Get a car fax report on it and it will help narrow the search. It will show when it has changed hands and where.

Sounds like a plot for Law and Order. :mrt::fro::tim: ---> :ack: I'd go with the PI angle and just send them a letter once you find out. Last time I bought a PI it was about $240.00 so it's not stupid expensive if you give enough info and find one that's pretty laid back. |
Re: Lost My 65
I wish I took pictures of the stuff I did way back when. So many cars and projects they turn into a blur after a few years. Now I take pictures so I can remember how to put stuff back together.

Re: Lost My 65
Shoot, I just about have to take pictures of where I store stuff so I can find it when I'm ready for it.

Re: Lost My 65
greetings. in mississippi any local car dealer can ask the dmv for info on an auto, title, liens, owner, etc. i have done this before when i found trucks in the wild & wanted to find the owner, just to have him ask "do you see a for sale sign on that truck boy?":waah:

Re: Lost My 65
Man- I feel your pain on this one- My sister Ellen used to have a 65 chevy pickup that we went camping in every summer as a kid- she bought it from my dad after he thrashed it using it for his home renovation business. A few years ago she sold it to some college kid in Flagstaff Az. She said she used to see it around town for a while but it had been fixed up and painted red. She still apologizes to me when she sees me for not checking to see if I wanted the truck first. Every time I visit her in Flagstaff- I look for it.
That truck is what inspired me to get into the hobby, and sadly every truck I own is a shadow of that one. Best of luck with getting info and ultimately reacquiring your long lost truck. |
Re: Lost My 65
Looks like I haven't poked my head in on this thread for some time.
Thanks for all the suggestions, guys. Browsing the forums this eve, I just saw this member's truck and thought; hey! could that be mine? He lives in Tigard, Oregon - just west of Portland. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/member.php?u=27835 http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/c...pic27835_7.gif Then I noticed it's a 66, and even though he had the same idea of using fleetside tail-lights on his stepside, his look to be mounted a little lower than mine. Of course I think mine were mounted at the perfect height. :D |
Re: Lost My 65
PM him and ask if it's on an X frame....

Re: Lost My 65
^ Thanks
I just went to his build thread. It's not it. There's no way someone would have changed the interior to look like what his looks like. Nothing wrong with his, but mine had the gauge cluster, not the dummy lights. Also, my interior was too cool for someone to change. It also had buddy-buckets. I'm leaning toward the suggestion of getting a Private Investigator to track it down for me. |
Re: Lost My 65
PM me all you info on the truck. I was a police officer for 14 years. I still have ways of getting it done. It may take me a few days but i can get the info you need.

Re: Lost My 65
Thanks,
PM sent. Off Topic: is your avatar of wolfman jack from the movie 'American Graffiti' ? I love that movie. I watch it two to three times a year. It was filmed real close to where I grew up. It always makes me feel nostalgic. Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: Lost My 65
Yes, it is from the scene in American Graffiti. That is my all-time favorite movie! I watch it and More American Graffiti several times a year also.

Re: Lost My 65
hey, Yes thats a whole inner rocker panel that I trimmed at the rear around where the seat bolts and the seat belt bolts at. I cant remember where I picked it up at, somewhere at the charlotte auto fair. I do know that it cost 69.00 dollars because the price is still wrote on the side of it with a paint pen. I think LMC truck parts has the same peice I used.
