This BOV installed where I have the arrow in the below picture? Do you know how much boost it can handle? I didn't see it listed. What are your thoughts on the location of the air filter? Quote:

Re: Need some engine advice and suggestions...
You won't be able to hook up the blow off valve on the set up you have now. Normaly they're located on the pipe towards the carb. You would have to change the rubber elbow for a steel or aluminum one.
I don't think you want to cut a hole in the box! Did you get a wideband 02 yet? |
Re: Need some engine advice and suggestions...
Sorry I forgot to mention.
Get a good fuel pump like an Aeromotive a1000 I think it is - Its good quality and will give you all the fuel this combo needs - you will need an adustible fuel pressure regulator and a return to the tank. Also a like others have mentioned, a cold air set up would help too. Also you need colder plugs with a blower - I'm not sure if thats what you're using or not Is that flywheel HP or RWHP your making? I wasn't sure. |

The BOVs aren't rated for certain boost levels it all depends on how much air you are pushing. A 50 mm BOV should be sufficient. I'm not exactly sure how to calculate the size. Like Alex1 suggested the A1000 is a good pump and will work well with your combo. It's so easy spending someone else money. Although I just bought a few of these same items. |

I'll have an update on the blow-off valve by the end of the week. In the mean time, here's a video of some burn-outs, :metal:

Re: Need some engine advice and suggestions...
Real sweet ride. I would keep the 3:73 gear if your going to street drive it. I've always ran the same and it gives the best of both worlds, And with that much power, I don't think you need any more. My .02 Where is Pace, Fl?

I finally got my BOV installed. I still have to route a good vaccuum source to it and then I can go try it out. Is there anything I should double check before putting it to the test?

You need to build boost or pressure in the intake in order for the valve to stay closed. The hose that comes from the intake to the BOV senses pressure or vacuum. Under boost it will close the valve and keep it closed. If there is vacuum in the intake it will open the valve. It appears that the BOV is doing what it is supposed to do. You don't want pressure when you are manually blipping the throttle. Before you make any adjustments drive the truck and see if how it acts. |

Re: Need some engine advice and suggestions...
Before I purchase a wideband setup, I need to upgrade the fuel system from the Holley black pump/Holley non bypass, non boost referenced FPR (anyone need to buy a pump and FPR, :D) to some Aeromotive stuff. Here's what I'm planning for the fuel system:
A11101 - Fuel pump A13301 - Boost reference fuel pressure regulator with return A12301 - 10 micron fuel filter A12304 - 100 micron fuel filter The only thing I'm not sure of is the fuel pressure regulator. There seems to be a lot of choices. The 13301 is adjustable from 3-20psi and has a spring that can be changed to make it adjustable from 20 to 65psi if I ever switch to fuel injection. Thoughts? R/ |
