Re: Maggie's Custom
Glad to see that Maggie is wearing her steel toe flip flops, safety first!!!
If I was one of your neighbors, you might want to keep a close eye on the bed and the front clip!! |
Re: Maggie's Custom
Looks like you two are going to have a lot of fun on this.
Good to see she is wrenching on it too!! When my wife got her LeMans, I told her she would have to wrench on it. She said "But that is what I have you for..." My reply to her was, "I could do that. But you would know nothing about your car, and when people stop to talk to you about it, they will realize you know nothing about it. Then they will know it is really MY car, and I just let you drive it." Now she only asks me for help on it. Funny thing too, mechanics dont like to talk to her now either because they cannot pull the wool over her eyes. (Local Chevy dealership tried to tell her part of her transmission problem was a dead battery and it would be $200 for them to change the battery. Yep, no lie... $80 for the battery and $120 for an hour of labor) She told them exactly why they should go frook themselves. |
Re: Maggie's Custom
Funny thing is my son (19) watches me work on his stuff! She pushes me out of the way so she can try! Something you can't teach people. She is having a blast working on this truck, all the more for me to get in on the ground asap. I have c notches, bags, track bar, 2 steel wheels, cpp front brake and ball joint kit, rear 5 lug conversion axles, master w/ booster and a few other things on the way, hoping to have it on the ground soon.

Going to post the rest of my pics, I'm at a stopping point until I get parts so I'm taking the weekend off. We got the truck on fathers day so we've done pretty good so far. I'm not a welder or fabricator so go easy on me! It helped a lot looking and coulter's build in knowing which direction to go first. We are not sandblasting and painting parts this go around, get it back on the road, drive it, than break it back down, fix the rust, do a little paint.

Wow, those are some good looking welds. Making quick work on this one.

Re: Maggie's Custom
The arms came out nice. You may want to put some holes in the cups towards the inside to let water drain out.

Re: Maggie's Custom
You may not have been a welder and fabricator before, but I'd say you are now! Nice work, and amazing progress in such a short period of time. The value of an enthusiastic partner just can't be measured, as well as garage-bonding time. Enjoy!
