Not the website...its your computer. Delete your cookies and temporary files. See if it works better.

Otherwise disconnect from the internet, go to the command line and do a FLUSHDNS.

???'s for u all.

What is the differance between say a 5.3 intake and a 6.0 intake if any?

I found this thread over on the LS1 site.

Smoothing out the intake. Look pretty sweet to me!

All the Gen III truck intakes are the same. Smoothing is a heck of a lot of work, I always figured on running an engine cover till I upgraded to something worthwhile of showing off like a sheetmetal intake, or going to a 4150 style.

BR3W CITY, yea I been looking all over for info on these things and your name sure pop's up a lot! Those smooth intakes are cool looking but I bet there is a bunch of time in them.If you could port and polish it though that maybe worth the effort.;):chevy:

Re: 2003 LSx swap thread...here we go

There's no difference between a 5.3 and 6.0 intake, but there are year differences. 99-02 and 03-07 are two different intakes, but only where the throttle body is concerned. They moved the PCV line from the TB to the intake in 03. But it can be worked around. Also van intakes are different from trucks as they don't have the same mounting provisions for mounting the Vortec cover. Again, that's minor, but you asked. Lol!

Also you can't port and polish them. Well, technically you could, but you won't gain anything from it. People have tried it but found out it just isn't worth the effort.

Yea I guess so! Glad you are though and sharing you info along with the rest of the guys on here.
The guy I bought the engine from has another one that the block was cracked it's been sitting outside un covered and he said I was welcome to anything on it. It's a 5.3 I think. I may go tomorrow and grab the valve covers and intake just to play around with it.

Wondering what u guy's clean the intake up with. I took it off and got everything off of it. Whats the best thing to use on it? Any suggestions.
Got the EGR valve block off today with oil cooler block off.
Got the covers painted but may buy some new ones after I get it installed.

Had to leave home for a few days of Fire training but stopped at my local O-Reilly's on the way out and ordered some new parts.

Intake gaskets
Spark Plugs & wires
All the fuel injector O-rings
Water pump gaskets
Throttle body O-ring
Valve cover gaskets

Everything to button the intake back up when ready. Should be there Friday when I get back.

$205.00

Well all the parts are painted and ready to reassembly. I finished up today and now can start the install.
Going with headers for the install. Don't want the EGR stuff on the manifolds.

Had to go back to the parts store and buy another water pump gasket. They only gave me one side. Now I'm ready to start reinstalling everything.

? for all of you. Did you use RTV on the gaskets are just put it together as in the intake and water pump.
What about lock thread on the bolts?

Hey Andy, are you doing this by yourself?

So far I've done everything myself. I haven't done nothing but clean and paint parts so far.
I really haven't decided yet which way to go on the install. I'm working 6 days a week 12hrs so getting home in the afternoon at 6:30pm doesn't leave me a lot of time and this will be until the week before Christmas and then all the Christmas stuff to do.
I have checked on a couple of installs and am leaning towards Hawks in Easley SC. He will do a turn key job for me with a dyno tune afterwards.
I hate to spend that kind of $$$$ though but like the idea of 6months warrinty on everything he does. He gave me a price of $4800.00 + the tune for $400.
I will have the dough just hate spending it for this. I really don't have the garage space to have all this in either and he said 2 weeks and it's done.

I am kindof tight when it comes to that stuff. But it sounds like you are tight on time. I could never make myself spend that dough on an install but I do have more time to spend on it so I do understand.
To me if you already have the engine and the harness done he seems high. Is he going to tear down and rebuild your motor? I am not sure what kindof warranty he will give you on "everything he does".
Basically you need to buy you some motor mounts to mount the new to the old get an engine hoist and drop it in place. Bolt it up. You may need to modify your tranny mount but I am not even sure of that with what is out there. You have the hard part done with your fuel doing your TPI unless you are going to redo it.
Hook up your wires and start it... Ok I left a couple steps out but they are no different than any engine swap.
Good luck Andy on which ever way you go it will make a fun beast.
Dave

I have the motor mount plates already. He garrinties the whole thing tune setting up the exshaust. Transmission everything he installs headers. He said it will be ready to drive when I pick it up. I just don't have the space are the time to do it at the house. No I really don't want to spend that much on the install but just can't see getting it done. I also have a golf cart torn a part rebuilding it also for my niece and nephew. I have the garage full of parts and carts and it's driving me crazy. I promised the cart to them for Christmas. ;):chevy:
