How do they adjust both rods are just solid rods that slide into the booster?

There should be a ball ended cap threaded onto the end of the rod. You can adjust the length by screwing the cap on (to shorten) or off (to lengthen).

Here's a rough drawing of what I'm talking about. The flat end goes up in the booster and the round tip goes into the m/c.

here is a pic of new pushrod not adjustable at all. The old rod is same only about 1 inch shorter. Using old rod seems to work fine, It sticks out same length as it did in old booster so is same now as is was. Seems ok so far.
