300 isn't bad... my 200 dollar quote was just to go under the cab, and with no mufflers.

A lot of the prices ya'll mentioned are crazy! I know it's a different truck but I only paid $325 for one Flowmaster Series 40 muffler and two 2.5" pipes with 3" stainless steel tips plus installation on my 02 Dakota. The guy who runs the shop said that he can get them at discount prices for reasons unknown to me.

Me too. I'd like to get the 4x4 kit for my GMC. I think you could rework the pipes that bolt to the manifold and make it work.

Hell for $700 you can go to Garner Exhaust and get exact replica's, even the wrinkles in the bends.

Not a hi-jack, just an exhaust question. Any of you guys consider running your pipes on the outside of the frame? That's how my pipes are run, and I kinda like the extra space they provide around the driveshaft / tranny / etc. They come outside of the frame just behind the A arms and run parallel to the frame all the way. This way you don't have to worry about suspension travel or other stuff like that.. just curious what your thoughts were since you were talking exhaust.

Re: LMC exhaust

I've seen it, it was somewhat common back in the day on the 55 - 57 chevys.
I can't really see any good reason for it though, it's not like it's cramped under there or anything.
Although, if it's there, and in good shape, I'd leave it there personally.

Yeah, everything's on the outside of the frame. Here's a pic of the exhaust when I was tearing down the truck.

I would speculate, (and that's all it is, speculation) the pipe guy was new, or even a back yard job, and that was the only way he felt comfortable.
