Yeah I bet it could. Oh yeah straight pipes will get you in trouble quick around here. We dont' live in a rich neighborhood but the neighbors still hated it. One finally called the cops on me and I got a "verbal warning", so I went and got short glasspacks put on it, hardly any difference! :metal: Now that I think about it there was another '70 in the parking lot at school, the guy that drove it graduated a year before I did. It was a 1/2 ton longbed painted John Deere green, had a straight six with a stick shift. He kept his truck at the other end of the parking lot.

I'm 17, almost 18, and am going into my Senior year in highschool. I have a few times driven the ole 69 to school last year. Mostly I drove my old 91 S-10 Blazer, a real beast, no muffler and always covered in mud, until I got my 97 K1500, which is a pretty shlick lookin truck (got many compliments on it so far) Next year I plan on getting the 69 a little more road worthy, hopefully I'll get some looks in that, or if I get my 69 Mustang road ready. Otherwise, not too many people drive cool old trucks at my school (which is really supirising, being up here in Hicktown) but there is a girl who has a really really nice 72 C-10, and my buddy 68350. Otherwise I've almost never seen any cool old trucks at my school, for some weird reason.

I've only driven my 71 to school, nothing else. 4 years of high school and 2 of college and counting. Shes a little rough, but from a distance she looks awesome!! :-) When i get some cash, she'll get a facelift. Drivetrain is solid though, which is what counts for now.

I'm getting old now (22, lol) but I drove my '72 to my sophomore, junior, and senior years of high school, including to prom, graduation, and all that other good stuff. I also tried driving it through my freshman year of college but ended up having it pretty much fall apart, besides the engine and transmission anyway, so its been parked for 2 years now. I'll get it back on the road one of these days, but it won't be for a long time. Until then I'll drive my Saturn...40 mpg, suckas, lol.

Re: Any students on here?

lol I remember my first day of driving the '67 250 to school. My manual choke was not hooked up and I wanted the engine to be nice and warm so I popped off the air cleaner. Long story short, I flooded the engine and missed 1st period that day.

I also did stupid things like driving across the highschool lawn and, instead of aiting in line to exit the parking lot, just hop the curb and cut off who ever had been driving down that street.

When I drove it Winter 2005 I had balding tires. The school is somewhat in a rural area and had drainage ditches on the sides of the road. Anyway, another long story shortened, I was stuck in that muddy ditch for a hakf hour with everyone passing by and pointing. It took about 100 shifts between 1st and reverse and three buddies jumping up and down in the bed before I finally backed out spewing mud everywhere.

I allways loved being the only one to set off alarms in the parking lot with my exhaust. Everybody elses had to do it with there systems. One time I set off the trucks alarm next to mine just starting my truck.

Oh man I drive my truck to the mall for that reason alone and I miss doing it in the school parking lot. Even back when the original 307 had flowmasters and side exit exhaust.

Im gonna be a senior in highschool this year. Drove my project to school a few times over the last schoolyear. ( a couple with open headers) turned heads, even if it is just a project.

I'm glad that you think that. Whenever I tell anyone I have and old GMC truck that I'm fixing up, they could really care less. If it isn't running on the road or have a SBC in it, it's labled a POS. Even my dad seems to be losing interest in the old girl, and he was the one pushing me to buy it.

Re: Any students on here?

yea, i take some abuse for my truck from people who dont appreciate these trucks. It is afterall a project. But I just ignore theyre criticism, and when they pull up next to me in their "daddy bought" foreign jobs, i just laugh and rev up my truck. Open headers makes them plug their ears when theyre next to me. Its a great feeling

Re: Any students on here?

Oh man, I'm totally stimulated to upgrade my 6er. Even them I probably couldn't beat them, but my truck looks way cooler than a Civic.

Check this out. I enterd my truck in the shool's 2nd annual car show. Only classic vehicle out there. The body isn't perfect and the engine is old and withered, but I get a few looks. I got a lot of buddies and I had my own little crowd hanging out in the bed that day.

There are 5 categories, each dealing with Best Engine, Best Sound System, The Trashiest Car, and 2 Most Unique or whatever.

I thought I'd atleast win the Most Unique, but some crappy RX7 got it. What's with that? It already won Best Engine! The outside sucked, it's just another run of the mill import car with an oversized wing and painted brake calipers.

I'm convinced that the new generation (save for myself and a few others) are all on dope.

That's it. I'm lowering the front, going with dual exhaust, and putting the shortest, most legally-loud glasspacks on my truck. If I can't beat the imports, I'll rev them out of earshot!
