Brad what year was this started? Also what are your plans for a motor and trans?

Brad, just start throwing money at Steve. When he has clients like Gil Losi and Bruce Ricks, money talks. If your are like me, you don't have any extra to throw so intensive projects such as yours and mine tend to move slowly. I have a '68 Camaro project that is going on 12 years now working on it off and on.

You just do not use teh cowl mounting bolts and you add mounting points under the hood and inside the door jamb!
It also looks like you have done away with the side exhaust.

Re: Hardtop Blazer?

Thanks for the kind words about the Jimmy. Yes a Jimmy but usually I just call it a Blazer. I will try to answer all the questions in one post.

The rear gate will be glass. Something like you would see on a late model SUV. Of course the perimeter will be blacked out so it will have an OEM look.

Yes those are holes for trim down the side. We talked about air brushing the trim but but deceided it had to have real trim. It totally changes the appearance. Sorry but I am not showing the trim till it is done.

My son will be disappointed when I sell it but he understands that it is not going to be ours forever.

The bumpers will be a bit controversial. I am not totally sold on them because I love the stock bumpers. I don't recall exactly what the back bumper started as. See what happens when projects go on too long. This will sound totally crazy but I think it was a late 60's Ford P/U front bumper. It has been sliced, diced and straightend and so on. I do like the back bumper. I don't have pics on this computer and it has been a while since I have seen the bumpers on it.

It does have that Nomad look and that was influenced by a rendering I had done. When It is done you will see a very strong Tri Five influence.

I think this project started in 2002.

Dash.......think tri five and think two humps.

I have a 700R4 already. It will have a big block and a carb. Nothing crazy but it will be very detailed.

Yes I am a very small fish when it comes to Steves customers. Yes I am low man on the totem pole when it comes to getting anything done to my truck. Am I happy about it......nope. Is it going to change anything......nope.

Getting the fenders off........the upper bolts go in from the inside of the truck now.

The side exhaust is still in the plans. That opening was only spray paint to see how it would look.

One thing you can't see in the picks and I think is cool is the tail gate latches. They are bear claw type latches now. You should should feel that tailgate click closed. I did not want it rattle at all.

Hope that got everyones questions. Once again thanks for the kind words.

One thing you don't have to worry about is his build are top notch. It will definitely be a trend setter once its done. I am still amazed about Bruce Rick's '55.

Steve does great work and has been very good to me. I just wish it hadn't taken this long.

Bruce's new car is cooler than the 55 in my opinion.

Just keep it going! One day it will be worth it, I just picked out my colors (not ready for paint just yet) for my 71swb today after it being torn down in 99 or 00. Yes the bear claws are the only way to go. In my blue prints for my 70 2wd blazer build they are used in 5-6 locations. Do stock latches work, Yes, will bear claws give that 2006 vehical "click" you bet. Plus they are smaller with more safty built in and when you need to re-locate latches it just makes sence.

Awesome Brad! Who is this guy Steve, and does he have a website where we can look at some of his other work? LUV2, if this one comes for sale, we might have a bidding war, I really like this one. LOL. I normally like to build my own, but this one is one I'd love to have. Finish it Brad, we want to see this thing finished!

that's a bummer, don't get me wrong top notch body work, but a blazer is a blazer and a Bel air is a Bel air, this reminds me of those hill billies down south who take blazer frames and put Camaro and Vette bodies on them. oh well just said to see another first gen blazer get wasted!

Yep, another blazer wasted. I sure do wish mine was that wasted. I would just about give my left *ut for that thing to be sitting in my shop;) That is a work of art and anyone can have a blazer or a jimmy but it is his money and his ride.
