Re: Anybody ever buy a truck for only a few parts?
I bought a 85 lwb with locked engine, just for the aluminum valve covers (I later found out that they cost $100 buck new  )

Re: Anybody ever buy a truck for only a few parts?
Yep... Bought a 69' Bird coupe about 15 years ago because I couldn't find a good front clip anywhere for my 69' Birb ragtop. I only paid $75 for the coupe but it had a perfect blue interior, rust free body but no motor/trans or title... Most of that car is still in boxes in the attic of the garage. Bought another 69' Bird coupe a couple years later for the AM/FM Bluelight stereo... Bought a totalled 65 Mustang for the front seat(some knucklehead put in a rare 67' Camaro front BENCH seat!!!) Bought the 72 C20 Burb originally for just the motormounts & engine accessories(BB/air) Got it running now so I will be using the motor too... ;)

Re: Anybody ever buy a truck for only a few parts?
I bought my '68 to restore it, the next thing that we knew all that we had used was from the cab forward sheet metal wise and the title.
Even the frame and drivetrain are different. I did buy three other trucks to get enough bits and pieces to complete mine, even a C-60 cab just to get the tach/vac dash, and wrecked a '92 C3500 for the driveline and frame. |
Re: Anybody ever buy a truck for only a few parts?
I bought a 72 parts truck (no motor or trans and wrecked on 1 side) not too long ago. Took the vintage air off and resold the truck for more than I paid for it. I was smiling the whole time.
