Re: white letter's out.
Stepside454 made a good point. One of the reasons I run mine with the white letters on the inside is that I don't like paying for the privilege of advertising for BF Goodrich. If they want me to advertise their products, it will cost them. :)

Re: white letter's out.
I hear you 454, when I bought my 83 Silverado new that's the first thing I did when I got it home, pulled the dealer sticker and the paper dealer license plate and frames, right now the only thing I have is the Chevrolet on the tailgate as my truck has been shaved of all the emblems and trim and stake pockets filled, but still have my TA raised letters out :metal:

Re: white letter's out.
Its all good....whats really bad though is unmatched white letters...maybe a set of Daytons on the front & Mastercrafts on the rear...stylish

Re: white letter's out.
i thought of something, on my 18" camaro wheels i would never put WLO, but if i had some 15" Z28 wheels on it then i would go WLO, so im not 100% WLO, like others have said, it depends on the situation.
heres my tahoe with WLO though!! http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...7_138_full.jpg |
Re: white letter's out.
GFLO...good lookin truck...on that I think WLO look pretty decent...if it were mine, theyd be in...but thats ok...its not mine LOL
|
Re: white letter's out.
Like the man said...depends on the rig. WLO on my trucks, never on my jeep and black walls all the way on the wife's Mustang.
|
Re: white letter's out.
yep...thatll work
|
Re: white letter's out.
Boy, some of you guys really get your tires in a rut when it comes to white letters in or out! You would think this is a Ford vs. Chevy thread. :D

Re: white letter's out.
I like the WLO on my truck but have in the past had the black out. Just depends the look you want and the car and truck. I like both.

Re: white letter's out.
87, yep, same with me ...if you like your WLO...go for it proudly
|
Re: white letter's out.
around here it seems like white letter's out is more of an age related thing, over 35-40 mostly white outs, under black wall, then you got to remember alot of big diameters don't even offer white letter's.not much billboard to advertise on.

Re: white letter's out.
Mind if I chime in? This question has been going through my head a lot lately. I think rally wheels definately have to have white letters out (unless they say "Super Duper Sporties" or something). Billet or chrome wheels should be black out. Buicks, caddys & such look silly without white walls. But heres the kicker... I have always wanted a set of BFG's but they were always out of my price range until now(no Im not rich now, the tires are just cheaper). I bought a set of 15X10 & 15X7 slots for my old truck, doing a lot of the period correct stuff on it & I cant decide if I should run the BFG's black or white letter out. Leaning towards black but not 100% sure yet...

Re: white letter's out.
just a thought...if your trying to be period correct than I dont know if Radial T/As would be the right tire, especially WLO. Tale a look @ Coker tires, they have period correct looking tires available in radial versions I think.

Re: white letter's out.
Corn, if you are going old school with slots, then the white letter should go on the outside. :)
BTW - I love the old alum slots... :) |
Re: white letter's out.
here's my 2 cents... I like white letters when it fits the aura of the truck. solid white letters on a muscle car type of look is fitting. letters on a bagged custom doesn't work. just an opinion

Re: white letter's out.
corn that should look good

Likewise, if I could fine a reasonably priced tailgate trim without the Chevrolet logo, I would replace it. I'm hoping to eventually move my tailgate release to the inside, and cover the hole up with Blazer tailgate trim. I want to take care of both issues at once. Slonaker |
Re: white letter's out.
You guys bring up some interesting points. If you look at it this way white letters or white walls can enhance the look of almost any beater out there. My first vehicle was a 72 Impala. The thing was three different colors. White top, primered front fenders, doors, and quarter panels, gold hood, and a gold trunk lid. I only had white walls and Crager rims to enhance the look of the thing. I bought it that way and I never changed it up until I sold it to a buddy. I wouldn't just throw white letters on any thing I just like them on our trucks with 15inch wheels. Any size above that gets blacked out.
