One question that no one has asked... is that tree on YOUR property... or CITY property... you may get to make a claim on the city.

Even if its the city's tree you are responsible for the care and damage they cause at least round here. We had real bad ice storm a few years back and part of my oak tree landed on my neighbors work truck. The city just laughed at me when I asked them to cover the damages. My homeowners did cover it thank god.

Ain't like that here. And in Cali, you can ALWAYS blame someone else.

Man that SUCKS!!! That shouldn't happen to such a nice truck! I thought there were laws against it! I'd have to go Texas Chainsaw Massacre on that tree if it were me! I'd make Leatherface look like an amatuer by the time that I got done with that tree!

Good luck with the rebuild.I will be watching here for progress pics when you start rebuilding. I was thinking the same thing about the windshield. Looks like it missed it by the pictures that you posted. The doors look like they can be saved as well. You should be able to do a roof swap and save the rest of your cab.

I'm with these guys on the homeowners policy. I'd check first and see who is actually liable first, your homeowners insurance, or the city that you live in. That tree just might be out far enough that it could be the city's resposibility. Anyway, sorry to hear about your truck and keep us posted on what happens. ...Joe

Man!! That sucks! That image is so saddening to me if you weren't in CA I would give a good cab off of 1 of my parts trucks to replace it! I can't imagine how you felt when you pulled up and saw that.:whine:

Re: Honey, the just tree fell on your new truck...

mans that is awfull, good thing is that no body was in it , or somebody wasnt walking by when it fell. and from the pics i see. id look for a donor cab, it would be a ton easier than to try and fix that one . and alot less headaches....you could just chop it roadster style for the rest of the summer. and by the way that a pillar looks who knows where all that energy went through out the rest of that cab

Re: Honey, the just tree fell on your new truck...

I was about to say something about that... the underneath of the cab probably took a beating from the sudden weight. I'd just look for a cab... and maybe chop the roof off for now so you could drive it a little bit till the donor cab is ready.

Was it as rust free as it looks?

Thats sucks man. I hate to see that happen to someone. Hopefully you can just put another cab on and be back on the road

Re: Honey, the just tree fell on your new truck...

I'd also be VERY careful how I cut that tree. By the way it looks to have fallen if you cut it the wrong way you could end up with even more of it on the bed or front clip.

As big and heavy as that thing is it wouldn't take much to create a lot more damage. Most importantly you don't want that big ol' tree on top of you! It would squash you like a bug! Where is a crane when you really need one? ...Joe

Total buzz-kill. Your wife said "your new truck" How long have you had it?
Please don't say you just bought it last week.
Bummer

That's a real bummer! When a tree fell on Putters truck recently his homeowners wouldn't pay. They told him if it had belonged to someone else they would have paid.

Re: Honey, the just tree fell on your new truck...

Hey guys thanks for the sympathy and encouragement! Now for the even sadder part. My homeowners ins co told me today no go for property damage coverage because they have an exclusion for vehicles. When I bought the truck last month and added it to my auto policy, I put only liability on it. For some reason I didnt add comp If I had done that, that I wouldve had 2500 coverage which wouldve helped. They needed an appraisal for any more value and to add collision because of the age. So every week I think I gotta do this and its 5 wks later and I never get around to the the appraisal (you know how it goes) Big mistake on my part but who woulda thunk your truck could get totaled in front of your house. As they say sh__ happens. #@$#%$@
