I did a shackle hanger swap in the rear of the truck. The new hangers are actually the same as the front-rear leaf hangers.

This got me about 5" of lift in the back.

I got some 52" springs for the front.

For the 52" swap, I had to move the frony hanger forward.

Attachment 375085

Attachment 375086

I still have to move the rear shacle hangers bushing, for the front leafs forward by an 1-1/2". That will also require 7.25" shackles, which I had to build.

My boy was eager to see what his dash was going to look like, so I jumped the gun and got er done.

I used a brushed nickle door plate kick for my back panel.

Im going to try and have the suspension finished this week, with new brakes, shocks, brake lines, bushings, u-joints, wheel studs and sittin on 35's.

My floor pans and rockers are in. Just tryin to figure out how exactly to get that done.

Front End

Like I may have said before. I took the 52" rear springs from a late 70 model Chevy 4x4 and put them on the front of the truck. Hangers were moved, shackles fabricated, new brakes, bearings, seals, shocks, stainless brake lines, blah, blah, blah, were added.

I will let the pics do the talking.

After the lift, the tie od to the steering arm was at a severe angle, so I got a Pro Comp 4" steering arm to replace it.

Conicle washers are a pain!

Rear Suspension.

Basically replaced all the bushings, shocks, brakes, etc.

Didnt like the rear shackle angle, so I changed it and bobbed the frame.

Exhaust

I bought some Flowtech ceramic headers. The flange didnt line up with the head very well, so I cut the flanges.

I used Thrush turbos and used 2-1/2" EMT for exhaust pipe.

Choppin the Bed

Bondo is highly flammible and doesnt weld up very good! :D

I ended up cuttin about 10-1/2" out of the bed so that it would line up.

I was going to bob the rear of the bed, but the front schooled me not too. :)

man, I LOVE your truck!!!
what is the black on the bed, primer, or flat paint?

Joey~AP 10-07-2008 03:27 PM

Re: k5 66

Paint is called "Satin". I think it is made by Krylon.

Just temporary until we can get the body work done right and get a good coat of paint on her.

I found that I can get paint by the gallon at Tractor Supply pretty cheap! It only comes in tractor colors, tho. :D
