When you buy replacement floors can you get the area where the seat goes. I couldn't really tell by looking at pics of anyones else's trucks. I don't think I need the whole area just the part right below where the seat mounts, you can see in the pic where i'm talking about. It's all been painted over but you can still tell. |
Re: I have NO idea what i'm doing (pics)
Two seperate pieces needed there.
1) inner rocker (possibley if the over-lap won't catch it all) 2) rear floor section (which I don't see as an available part) Who are you looking at buying the sheet metal from? I've had good success with Tri-Pro to date. After looking at the pics more... Looks like a piece they call a 'CAB FLR REAR SECT" would work great. Part #0849-223 & 224 (left or right) Here's the Tri-Pro link: http://www.tri-proautomotive.com/servlet/StoreFront Pic of the part: (drivers side) http://www.tri-proautomotive.com/catalog/0849-223LG.gif |

Re: I have NO idea what i'm doing (pics)
Bought some stuff today, first I bought the poly body mounts from Summit earlier this evenig then when I got home I checked the for sale forum as I usually do and found some stock wheel covers i'd been looking for so I bought those to from MSGROSS. I think they are the same ones bouncy has on his truck, except these are for a 15 inch wheel.
This just confirms the direction i'm going with the blazer, 2 inch front lift, probably 4 inch rear or just put blocks to level it out and some 31's on stock wheels with stock covers, i'm excited that I know what it's gonna look like now and that I have a firm plan for it. http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k2...x/IMG_2217.jpg Also all the body mount bolts are removed on my blazer except the very back ones, gonna have to remove the tank, rear bumper and reciever hitch to get them out. |
Re: I have NO idea what i'm doing (pics)
before you buy that piece up there, make sure you don't need more than that. i bought that piece because at the time, that's all they made when i really could have used this piece, which is the entire front to back:
http://www.gmcpauls.com/pictures/677...nnerrocker.jpg if you end up just needing the ones that VT posted, don't order em, I'll sell (read discount/no shipping) you mine. they're obviously brand new/never used. then i can just go ahead and buy the entire pieces. i may just buy the entire floor and just do the floors from hump to rockers. |

Also, they mandate separating the front 'A' pillar where it joins the inner rocker and the kick panel. Again I personally like this method but it's a lot more work and if your inners are solid to that point, not really necessary. Messin' with the lower 'A' pillar can be a can of worms in itself is what I'm trying to say here. ;) |
Re: I have NO idea what i'm doing (pics)
Oooh....thanks VT...that's some great info. I really need to get cranking on getting the floors done. I have most of the sections that I need, I just have no idea where to begin. I'm gonna have a guy come over and weld it all in, I just wanna get some prep work done like removing the rockers and cutting some of the rust out. I have no idea what's sitting behind these rockers.

Re: I have NO idea what i'm doing (pics)
Well i've been busting my tail taking out the body mount bolts to this thing. It's gotta be the most time consuming thing i've done thus far. The sleeves to the original mounts were rusted solid to the bolts so i ground the heads of the bolts off and knocked them through with my new punch set from Sears which more than paid for itself (on sale for 9 bucks!!).
http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k2...mountbolt1.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k2.../Punchpic1.jpg Then today my mounts finally came in so I snapped a few pics. http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k2...odymounts1.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k2...odymounts2.jpg I have a training class for a few hours tomorrow then i'll be swapping out the old ones with the new ones, and hopefully getting it all adjusted. Then I can start ordering body panels. I'm getting pretty excited about starting on it. :metal: |
Re: I have NO idea what i'm doing (pics)
Nice work, deal on the chisels. They will come in handy on the build...part number or price on the mounts?
|
Re: I have NO idea what i'm doing (pics)
Can't remember the part number but the price was 95 bucks.

Re: I have NO idea what i'm doing (pics)
Well so far all the mounts are in place, top is bolted down and i've been shimming the body and trying to get it all pretty and such. It's really not as easy as I originally thought. A call to Huck made me feel a little better as he told me to slow down and be patient (i'm not at all) and if I rushed it, it would drive me crazy. So i'm going through slowy and doing what he said to do. Hopefully mounts will be 100% complete by this weekend and I can start ordering some metal. I'm very excited about it. I need to buy some more cutoff wheels and grinding discs for my grinder and i'll be just about set to conquer anything that blazer can throw at me!!!:metal:

I just got back tonight from helping another board member do a head, intake and cam swap on his 350. Hell we had the whole motor out and apart changing rear main seals, painting...the works. The heads were brand spanking new vortecs, edelbrock intake, an extreme energy camshaft, roller rockers, etc, etc. I can't wait to see how it runs cuz the exact same combo will find it's way onto my motor very soon. |
Re: I have NO idea what i'm doing (pics)
Again, I applaud all your hard work. Its going to look great, maybe I can drive by this Sunday or Monday in mine to help & motivate u even more. Take care.

Re: I have NO idea what i'm doing (pics)
I was having a lot of trouble with the last body mount, the one at the very rear of the passenger side. Well anyways I started looking and noticed that my frame is tweaked. I always wondered why I had an aftermarket tailgate and why the rear of the body is banged up and slathered with bondo. Anyways now I have that to deal with, i'd shoot a pic but I just loaded 267 square bails of hay for a buddy in a little town La Vernia and i'm kind of tired so i'll try to get some tomorrow.
