We scored those wheels here on the board from a fellow member. Killer deal. As far as specs, I'm not sure exactly. The fronts are 15x7's and the rears are 15x8's. I don't know the offsets though.:chevy: |

62ChevyStep, Thanks for offering help! I know Portales is quite a ways from here. That's very nice of you to offer... You never know, I may just take you up on it one day... We'll have to get together one of these days and meet each other and look at our trucks. JC62 |

Did a little more work to the '65 this weekend. I did a little trade and go a factory automatic steering column. My lady cleaned it and sanded it and polished all the chrome pieces. I painted it on Saturday and we installed it on Sunday. Lisa cleaned all the linkage parts, I painted and installed those. The shifter works great! I also sanded and painted an original 'deluxe' steering wheel that we picked up from Tony (LILRED66). We didn't have a steering wheel puller so we didn't get to bolt that on, but it looks awesome..Here are some pics...jc:ito::chevy:

Re: Progress on my woman's '65 Short/Fleet.
Well, it's been awhile since we did some work to Lisa's '65.
An update: The 283 which looks so beautiful in place on the chassis is now out on the ground. We had some issues with the flywheel. The starter was binding with a 168 tooth plate. I was going to pull it to try a 153 tooth plate and another starter. Meanwhile, my brother in law came to me with a deal on a fresh 350 that I couldn't refuse. So I'm going back in with that. Tomorrow I'm going to the shop to install gaskets, v/c's, manifolds, fuel pump, water pump, etc. on the new motor. Hopefully, by the end of the weekend, I can stab the engine in the truck. I decided to go with the 350 because; 1: it was a good deal, and 2: It's freshly rebuilt with zero miles and 3: the 283 was a running motor that I just cleaned, painted and resealed, not a fresh motor. Anyhow, I'll post pics of the weekend's progress on Monday. |
Re: Progress on my woman's '65 Short/Fleet.
Nothing like a good deal from a relative. Sounds like the 350 is a better choice versus a "rattlecan rebuild"(although that 283 looked good!).

Allsome!

As for the 350, it's bored .030 over, flat top pistons, it's got a set of freshened up 1.94 camel back heads, a healthy dual duration cam(not sure of exact specs), Edelbrock alum. intake and Edelbrock 600cfm carb. It should be a runner! Can't wait to get it driving. |

Re: Progress on my woman's '65 Short/Fleet.
That little ‘283’ can wait for a nice rebuild (not that it doesn’t look good now) and go in something else. Having a ‘350’ that’s tight and at the right price is hard to beat.
This thread is a favorite - with the group effort and all. Classic. :metal: Keep it going. Mac. :chevy: |
