Re: Summer progress 66 build
Your new bed looks awesome! Hard to believe you got it all in the mail.
When a Hard Drive crashes there are a couple of ways/reasons it will happen. Usually for me it has been crappy power companys in craptastic corners of the world that think they are civilized and want to charge like you are living in the lap of luxury! But like someone already said, all may not be lost! https://services.seagate.com/ This company has the ability to disassemble your HD and actually take the data disc out, and put it in a new chassis (usually it is the read-write heads that fail on a HD) if they cannot recover the data by other means. All my photos and videos from Iraq are on a lap top HD that crashed, as soon as I can find it, I am sending it off to them to recover for me. Just a thought. I know some of the info and photos alone would make such a recovery worth the expense. Good luck on your build, hope you can keep us in new photos at least ! |
Re: Summer progress 66 build
Wow, very nice looking paint job. Great job and keep the pics coming! If you get a chance do you know the actual paint code on your interior dash?

Well, here it is buffed out. Really happy with it. Bed should be painted this week and time to start putting it back together. At times I never thought I'd see the day where I was this close.:metal:

Re: Summer progress 66 build
I think I love the colour, and the dash looks amazing, nice work! Is that the aftermarket tach from LMC/Classic/etc.? I would like to add that down the road myself.

Gas tank came today, mocked it up and I think its gonna be ok. Very close to bedwood but should work. Once the tank is in I can start on the bed.

Re: Summer progress 66 build
I am Craig btw, that is exactly what I want to do, don't really like the idea of the fuel door in the bed. It would be great if you show us a lot of detail as you go. Thanks!

CJ7 15 gallon rear tank install. Set in place to clear rear pumpkin just in case I decide to air it out some day. Welded 1x1 angle steel rail to rail , the front lip of the tank will lay in there with a 1 inch flat strip bolted down to squeeze it. Eventually I'll isolate it with thin rubber.
Fabbed up some brackets that are welded to the rear crossmember, and will hold the tank up in the rear. It will be bolted through two holes that are located on the rear lip. The tank came this way. I used shock bushings to isolate it and let the tank move a little as the frame flexes(I hope). |

The tank is bolted up from the bottom in the rear which will allow it to drop out if god forbid I ever need to take it out some day. I can also play with the height just in case I have any issues with it clearing the bed floor. Heres a couple more pics of the process.
