Re: Torchered

Honestly I have not done much Nick the guy bending over in the upper picture has done alot of the latest work.
The donor truck has been chopped and sold or scrapped.
The 69 has been stripped in the engine compartment and dash.
Going to refinish the dash in black with a painted pad and chrome gauge bezels and glove box.
All the little brackets have been sent off to powder coat so soon we can put it back together.
Nick's been stripping the frame past the bed so it can be primed and undercoated. 1/2 frame off restoration.
Looking at paint colors now I like gun metal blue, with matching valve covers and air intake.

Re: Torchered

Its been awhile, Originally I was going for a satin black shop truck. Do to lack of funds i have to do more work to get better parts. Like most of us. New updates:
CPP lowerd truck trailing arm cross member installed
CPP trailing arms
New bed sides
LWB bed floor chopped and welded for the new SWB bed floor
Cab has been primed and we are sanding down to spray base
One peice window kit not installed
Test color painted on cab - I call it metal Blue - picture coming soon

I will be buying a ridetech pro level system wednesday

this truck should be based and clearcoated buy end of next week.

The bed has a few issues around the tail gate so it will be painted after I finish the metal work. Pictures will be added this week.

Expensive day!

I finally broke down and whipped out the card. Purchased a ridetech prolevel system with height sensors and a second tank. I also called Porterbuilt with 45minutes left on the clock for there droped crossmember sale. I didnt realize it needed a rack system, oh well with a $300 discount it maded a hole lot easier to say yes.

The frame/crossmembers were cleaned with a sanding disk or wire wheel and sprayed with rubber undercoating.

The air ride parts came in. The E3 controller is much smaller then I thought it would be. I would like to have a program for this thing with an automatic speed height sensor. Say at 55 your truck automatically drops to a preset height.( 1 inch lower for the highway ) I also purchased the extrenal height sensors.

Pin striping

The boys and I were thinking of running a colored stripe down the groove in the center of each spoke. This would bring the blue into the wheels

This is the test paint test. It is a metalic blue/metal color. The other picture is the line up of the front valence with the doors and such. I ended up chopping both ends off the valence and rewelding them on to get better gaps.

Pulled these 10mm muscle bar ends off my Nova to put on the truck. Im swapping in 12mm ends for the Nova considering its weight.

Been a little slow, finally had the cab prepped for the final coat of paint and we tore it back down to the frame to install a Porter built crossmember. Still waiting for some parts to get that sucker on but in the mean time built a paint booth. The sides are meant to remain while the fornt and back will roll up so we can move it as needed.
