very nice, the stripes look great. I think a clean set of rallys would look as good as anything (if you're taking votes)

I think that`s what he`ll do.The rallyes on the`86 are the ones he had on the`68.

Looks very nice. I think that if that was my truck Id go with the car style rally wheels. They would tie in nicely with the cowl hood and stripes.

Good point.I`ll start workin`on him:cool:.I totally agree. It`s a`68 and I just see shades of Camaro in this truck.Maybe it`s also the brightish color, too.I see a Z/10.He has a no letter tailgate and I`d like to see a horizontal black panel w/outline stripe or something like that.Maybe a `68 fender emblem in the lower left corner of the black, like a Z/28 emblem. He`s getting a black tonneau when it`s done.
That shifter is hooked to a Saginaw 4spd and he`s trying it w/3.08s first.I think he`ll be ine.If not,he has 3.42s he can use. That`s what my project will run.

Personally, I'm not a fan of light blue...I can say that this truck moves me. I love the light blue. I think only these trucks can pull off a light blue, and look right. The stripped hood is very nostalgic. I agree with the Vette rallys, it would really put a strong theme on the truck. Very muscular. Some sort of a badge on the naked tailgate would be just right also. Great Job!!

Yeah,it`s a pretty rich light blue, almost medium. It reminds me of Ford`s Grabber Blue from this era.He should run the pipes out like the Camaros and Novas, too. The 4spd seta the trens as much as any visual feature, too.

Well, the bed`s on and he has driven it.He`s not sure about the 4spd w/3.07s.I think a set of 3.42s will be making their way into this truck. He has 2" blocks to level the stance out. That`s about it.Last weekend mike and his nephew Scott (and Eddie) started color sanding the truck.Eddies was sanding the bed yesterday.it`s about ready for it`s polishing. The door panels (`72) are all that remain for the interior. They`ll go in after the polishing.I gave him an AM/FM/cassette and it works fine.He bought those kick panel speakers.Did I mention how badass this truck runs and sounds? The cab and motor are what he bought a`68 lwb donor for.I`ll get polished & lowered shots along with some of the interior shorty. Then we can say this one is in the bag.

Re: Friends Helping Friends

It`s about sanded and ready for polishing.it came out pretty good.although its built from a bare frame it`snot meant to be anything more than a hot little pickup to run around in,for fun, chores, second vehicle, whatever.Basically built from what he had but the way he wanted it without breaking the bank. That`s pretty much what my project is,too. It may be a from bare frame build of a crappy truck, lol.I may have to skip finish paint and assemble it in primerAall the drivetrain is rebuilt and just the way I want it.It has buddy buckets that may go in as is...we`ll see.
There`s been quite a few street rods and bikes built out of this little garage. This is all Eddy wanted, simple and reliable. He`s done trying to impress anyone but himself. The bed floor is rustfree from California complete with dents. He`s just going to use bedliner in the bed and haul without worries.

Re: Friends Helping Friends

I did strip the paint off the top, attacked the surface rust, treated, and primed it...big whoop.I have the transmission at a friend`s where he`s going to help me go through it.That`s been the hangup. The previous owner said it popped out of 3rd.Everything looks ok inside.it could have only been shifter adjustment. But,he gave me an overhaul kit with it and I want to make sure.Once the transmission is good to go I can get it and the motor cradled in and move forward, however slow. The exhaust and driveshaft will follow.THEN,I CAN SET A DARNED BODY ON THAT FRAME!!!!!

So is the friend who has your tranny stalling or what? A 4 speed tranny ain't that hard to go through. Does someone need to pay him a visit? Maybe lean on him?
Well I know a guy see who knows a guy who's related to a guy who owes a guy a favor. Just say tha word.......;)
So Eddie's bout done on his. He can maybe ease on over to lend you a hand on yours.
