I love it when trucks/cars are done up original. But, this one blew it with me with those rims... Plus the fact that in reality it's just a clone, since the motor is not corect. The price needs to reflect that of a clone, not a perfect factory restoration which it is trying to be.
It's an awesome resto, but if I was shoppin and saw this with it's price tag I'd keep walkin.

Are you kidding? EVERYONE KNOWS THAT THEY DID NOT COME WITH LISCENSE PLATES FROM THE FACTORY!!!! just joking:lol: pretty nice truck guys, as far as the engine, while I know this is probably not the case, if the chevy dealer put the 454 in it before it was sold that would make it "Original" many new cars were modified at the dealership, and also are the "most valuable to collecter's cars" available ie: Yenko, Baldwin, Calaway, Shelby....

and as far as paint dabs and stickers go, I have built literaly MILLIONS of new cars (600 a night for 13 years),and the chances of everyone of them having the same locations on any given night from operator to operator is zero, if a show judge told me my sticker was two inches from where it should be I would laugh my @$$ off at him it would prove he knew nothing about vehicle production....As drunk and drugged up as most UAW members Were or Are I am amazed one gets out the door running at all, thank God for warranties, thats why I prefer build my own .

I would also agree on the correct hubcaps for a truck like that. It would give it that little extra. I see they added the 71 disc brake sticker to the gate. I think that sticker was gone in 72 and it is also on the drivers side.

Not a bad thing if it appears like a stock 402 in every way. Other than the air cleaner, it does. That baby should fly.

What's the deal with the Invader 400 valve covers? Was this originally available or just another incorrect part of the restoration?

[QUOTE=nyncompute;3128121] their original factory state

You mean the way the pickup looked when the GM dealership's saleman handed over the keys to the original buyer( except for aging and weathering of course). Nope, not this one.

I agree with a previous post a bout needing a national body if competing in a national type show in stock restored class. The last time I showed my 71 in a national event, I lost to a truck that was super nice , but gloss black powder on everything was not original, not was the 2001 model delco battery. Point being most judges especially truck show judges have no idea what is correct they just like super shiney, which the undercarriage and other parts just were not. As I said before sticker crazy- doubles on dual snorkle breather, also missing the strap ties that bundle the wiper hoses etc. together. Still a very nice truck but there are lots of nice trucks. I would like to see receipts etc. to justify the $35,000 as well as an appraisal by an outside source.
