Cheaper parts, easier to find,I can center the wheels in the wheelwell like they should be,and I like leaf springs . I converted my 68 to a dana44 w/leafs and couldn't be happier. To each his own I like leaf springs. Bob

Very scary, as the blue truck looks like how mine came when I bought it.

Nice looking project, good luck with it!

So why are you going leaf spring ???

And man, I think a 700R4 would be a better choice in trans, but hey youre the one building it

I don't have a 700r4 I have a 350turbo. And a 700 is not in the budget;) If you look at the coil truck you will notice the wheels set foreward in the wheel wells . That drives me nuts . And I'm doing the 5 lug swap and I have the parts for the conversion to leafs, and I like them . Bob

Looks like a pretty nice start Bob!

5-lug, front suspension, 283 with a th350...hmm...

any vague ideas for the cam, intake, exhaust?

You plug the heat riser holes in the intake under the carb? I used to thread mine and put allen head pipe plugs in them. The exhaust will cross over under the manifold and provide heat but not pressure at the carb base gasket. Used to be a major problem with causing vacuum leaks when that base gasket blew out.

I haven't thought about that . Long ways to go before I worry about the motor. I will keep it in mind when I get that far . Thank You , Bob

Re: Brought home the 67 Today

No problem, I suggested it to another member of the board and he mentioned it to his machinist who said it was a good idea. I am not proud of saying how many cheap old Chevys I bought in the old days because the base gasket blew out and the car started running badly. The owners thought the engine was a goner because of the exhaust noise reverberating around under the hood and running poorly. I would offer up a couple hundred dollars to relieve them of their clunker and spend about ten dollars and an hours worth of labor and be back on the road that afternoon. I learned this from an old guy I worked with in a gas station in the early seventies. I made some pretty decent money buying and selling cars during this time. Got real good at rebuilding those Rochester 2 barrels too!
