Its one thing after another, lost my damned starter last weekend, Tuesday my flywheel cover rattled off at 60mph, bounced off the hiway, hits the driveshaft and breaks my ujoint bolt, u joint cap flys off drive shaft wobbling like crazy. So I replace the u joint get the broken bolt out and now that its fixed, when I brake between 10 mph- stop it makes a clicking sound. It looks like the little flange that sticks out the transfer case is pulled away from the transfer case. Bah, the old lady says I should sell it. :lol: that'll never happen. I intend to pass the headache on to my son.

lol.. i'll i have to say is bumper bolts, seat belt bolts, and bed bolts pain in the ass..or knuckles i should say

I have had mine for over 7 years now and have either changed or modified everything including all body panels and have yet to experience a problem. the only original parts are the cab and radiator support.

I fear that some bad times are coming from the way you guys talk.

I might as well join in with the fun. I bought a 69 3/4 ton last fall with the intentions of restoring it. Well, after I talked to a bodyman he told me it would be cheaper to scrap the box, fenders, doors and buy new rather than pay him toi fix the old rusty ones. This was going to cost me about about 4500 so I thought OK this truck will be a keeper so why not. I will just get him to fix the cab. I sandblasted the cab last week and found out it will cost me another 5000 to fix it, so after lying awake until 3am Friday night thinking about this I thought WTF I can probably buy a better truck for about 5-7000 and start over so I did. I bought a 72 GMC that has been restored, went over it with a magnet and it is a pretty good truck. BUT it has a 12 bolt 410 rear end hooked up to an SM465 so you can just imagine what it is like on the highway at 65 mph. The engine is turning like 35-3700rpm. So I thought I will just swap rear gears to 308's right? Wrong!!! Need to swap gears and Carrier. 2 grand for parts and labor! Here's one for ya, the rear end in my 69 has 308's but it is leaf spring and it won't fit because It is supposedly narrower and my 72 is coil spring. I am just getting started on this project. WHAT'S NEXT FOR ME?!?!?!?!?!?

My truck fights me all the time everything will go fine when i leave it alone, but as soon as i fix something about the next something else will break

Well......I have had to fight with the wifey tooth & nail for the last 25 yrs over the truck, but she's been one hell of a ride(the truck;)). I have run BB Olds, BB caddy, & a couple sb Chevs in the past 1/4 century.....the kids running v8 s -dime trucks would even "jack" with that old truck;) crazyL

I never did and have yet to have any problem with stuff that was mechanical , I had some trouble learning bodywork and paint , but as far as my old car's and truck's I enjoy working on them and when a problem show's up I just fix and go on about my day , these old vehicles are very easy to work on mechanicaly ,
you know now that I think of it after reading this first post my 67 camaro and my 67 C10 calm me down after work most day's ,

I think this thread cursed me :lol:

About a month ago, I put an electronic fuel pump on my truck, it died so I put another one on it and finally it runs.

Well, today I decided to pull my front bumper and grill off so I can start re-aligning the front clip. Well, I had my socket wrench and the 12" extension sitting on top of the radiator and it slipped and nicked the front of the radiator poking a small hole in it!!! :no:

It has to start getting easier right?

my 68k10 fights everynow and then but i have run across the most troube with the parts that i try to replace the junk parts with its just one thing after another, i even have problems with brand new parts

most reacent example is the brand new waterpump
it instaled onto the motor no hickups, started bolting the pulley and fan to it and one of the bolts is best explained as having blown up durning tightening, took out a nice chunk from inside the thread hole and may have destroyed the threads beyond use, my dad and my uncle both long time mechanincs have never seen anything like it

Heck yeah, just the other week I finished putting in a fresh motor, well thursday heard some clanking, yesterday pulled motor and spun bearing on 8th cylinder. Just after I got a new set of wheels and tires. Argh and the truck is my only transportation

Seems like they just like to try our patience eh? I got a good deal on some recing style seats to put in my 72, but now I can't find ant mounts for them. They are designed to sit right on the floor so I have to try to fabricate something. Spent four hours at the junkyard looking for suitable mounts but to no avail.

What type of seats are they? I have a set of slide runners that i have left over when i put my raceing seats in
