Man that looks good!

Re: I wana drive 65.
well i started up again. it was hard to get motivated for some reason. I am taking a slow as you go approach to this extended cab. drilling out the spot weld and such. I want to leave as much metal in place till I'm ready to open the back up. thus far as of tonight I have the drivers side drilled out and cut out the lower cab corner so I can die sect it and reinforce the rocker section as it will be fully open like a new crew cab. I will prolly cut out the top of the cab just enough to slide them together tomorrow. I want to have fully functional rear swing doors on the rear. but one thing I'm not sure of is if I am going to chop the bed down to 5 feet or if I am going to stretch the frame... also step side or fleet I know this has been brought up already though.

Re: I wana drive 65.
FLEET all the way!!!
|
Re: I wana drive 65.
thanks Joe I do have the fleet bed now.. but it still leaves the questing cut the bed or stretch the frame
|
Re: I wana drive 65.
Stretch the frame!!!!!!!!!
|
Re: I wana drive 65.
yeah, i think you need to leave the bed and stretch the frame. with the extra cab I think a shorter than normal bed would look out of proportion....
|
Re: I wana drive 65.
This is what i am leaning to. I was thinkin about parking and drivibility. If the longer truck was goin to be a hassel
|
Re: I wana drive 65.
stretch the frame for sure. Once you do your CC conversion I might have to bring mine to ya for some help! I would love to have a CC. Damn you Dino!
|
Re: I wana drive 65.
I don't think a foot is going to make that much difference in maneuvering......besides, the coolness factor will out weigh any parking hassle;)
|
Re: I wana drive 65.
Lol well then i have a short bed frame i am goin to weld to this one.
|
Re: I wana drive 65.
i wanted to build one of these, but 3/4 ton w/duramax power for a cool old tow rig
|
Re: I wana drive 65.
Yeah im still thinkin about the power plant.i didnt want a full 4 door truck. But i still want to take the kids out with me.. It will be my daily also. Im still not sure aobut how to dp this. But ill never do it if i dont start
|
Re: I wana drive 65.
Just start cutting and welding and grinding, if you screw up. do it in the same order again. It's only metal like everyone says!
|
Re: I wana drive 65.
Yeah well. Like i said. Im taking it slow. Im drillin out the spot welds and looking at what im taking apart so i know what i have to do to make it strong when i put it together

i dint get as much done as i wanted but I did get to the point of no return. Im starting to see where its goin now. i think the next challange for me is to make the rear doors look the way I want them too and still use the b piller as the doors front panel
|
Re: I wana drive 65.
I think you cut the back cab too short. Your not going to have full doors in the back from the way it looks. What are you plans for the rear doors?
|
Re: I wana drive 65.
im going for more of an extended cab. with rear swing doors.. the doors will be about 28 in
|
Re: I wana drive 65.
I like progress, lookin' good. Someday I'll be that adventurous.
|
Re: I wana drive 65.
i dono what to call it.. I had to get to a point that I couldnt turn back.. cause I wanted to just quit and leave it alone. but hey I think I have a handle on it... maybe
