Thanks all!!! I think I got a pretty good diamond in the rough... They are hard to find and there is a lot of crap out there!!

I tore out all the carpet and trash that was still in there, found an old "pull top" beer can in there, pretty cool... Also found a First Aid kit, this is a metal box, think it may be fire/bomb proof, it's in pretty good shape! I don't think I am going to put carpet back in there, I like the rubber look and it's in PERFECT shape!!

My son and I spent the entire weekend together, from the swap meet at 5am to putting tools away 5pm Sunday afternoon... Pretty neat I must admit! And the Mt's are always blue at my place if you’re in the neighborhood

This should be my Blazer. Looks like it was built on my birthday, nine years before me though.

that rubber mat is the carpet leveling mat. It's hard to find these days. I would definitely not be using that to protect the bed. Unless you don't care about it. also the sunlight is going to make it very brittle.

btw awesome truck!

Looks like the bracket was a bit tweaked in the first photo...so the new bumper would appear to have it as well - probably the bumper mounting brackets on the frame/bumper...you can loosen them and move the bumper to where it should be - or if they are bent/twisted - you can get a used (or new) set pretty cheap or just bend yours back into the correct alignment.

Good Advice, thanks!

Look at this photo, why is there a piece of sheet metal stickin out on the passenger side, thought maybe it had something to do with it, but the stock bumper seemed to fit fine...

That would be your deflector, should have one on the left side also. Looks like your rig was re-painted to some extent.

Body mounts are getting done right now, so the top will be off before the weekend.

Coming up:
Fix rear bumper, and install licence plate panel assembly
Wheels and tires (think I am going with Chevy rally wheels)
new steering wheel
Shocks
pull the roll bar strip it and paint it
Stereo

Great project thread! I cant wait until my son is old enough so I can build old trucks with him. I hope someday to also find a cherry blazer like the one you have there. Eager to see more on this build thread.

Looks like a nice solid blazer. Better buy a soft top cause once the glass one comes off you won't want to put it back on. One year I took mine off Memorial weekend and didn't put it on till Halloween. The kids didn't like having to wrap up in blankets for the ride to school!

Okay, update from the weekend...

Got the top pulled Sat night, real happy with how it looks.

Lesson Learned:

When you figure out where you are going to store your top (mine is in a shed in the back yard) make a clear pathway to your location before you and your 2 buddies "pull" it. We have a pretty small lot, so it had to be turned sideways to get to the back, and I didn't think ahead very well...

Sunday I got the rear bumper off, and got the brackets realigned, license plate assembly and light installed and got the bumper back on... I pulled the tow package, I think it gives is a "cleaner" look...

All and all pretty happy, think I will get to the seats next...

Thoughts are always welcome :)

Oh, Burt... If you notice in one pic you can see the cooler in the back, and the Mt's were blue all weekend  :metal:
